standing in Wet Sands

standing in Wet Sands

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Standing
In wet sands of running tides
Watching water, breaking into surf
Echoes of an ocean's heart resounding.

I contemplate my time spent here on earth.
How much of it is spent in isolation
Gathering information to remember
For later recollection's sad reflection?

Standing
In wet sands of running tides
How many feel the lunar ticking time ?
The emptiness of yearning to be filled
And then the high of flowing joyful rhyme
Sings itself in answering fulfilled

So yesterdays are gathered in tomorrows

Standing
In wet sands of running tides

this is about a quiet sumarizing of life. I love it how your pieces are written with a certain dignity, self-respect and grace... you decorated the past iwth the conception of reminiscence. beautiful ! This stanza was my favorite:
I contemplate my time spent here on earth.
How much of it is spent in isolation
Gathering information to remember
For later recollection's sad reflection? --------- closing off is our defence mechanism when we wouldn't allow anybody to enter: this way we stay hole, I believe.
