A Poem by Donald Meikle

The boat rocks but not enough to disturb my view

Clouds change shape slowly

Setting sun spotlights green liver birds on red towers

A mussel seeker sculls by standing,  his oar sometimes a cane

The pier is crowded  with dockers talking themselves warmer

A school of baitfish swirls and dives in brown eddies

I hold the bike against me firmly as the sides open and the ferry stops

The memory disappears as she sets the table.

I like the set-up, places and description. I like the way you led to the ending. Memories become needed in old age. My dear Grandfather told me often. Travel, test life and love many. You will need those memories in old age. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
