Good morning starshiner

Good morning starshiner

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Lost in the colors of leaves

Tasting the thoughts of breakfast

Exchanging feelings through ether

Deaf to the clutch of reality's screaming

In the blind hope that the world's getting better

So do I blunder through waking and wondering

Thirsting for that third cup of coffee

Lost in the color of leaves

Wish the world could always be lost in the colors of leaves.

How wonderful it is to wake to a morning that shines a blissful light; how sad, that for many the light never shines.

'In the blind hope that the world's getting better.' Those words light this poem up like a beacon.

I remember a 70 mile circling off Crete - day-after-day-after-month-after-month. Got to where there wasn't toothpaste to buy from the ship's store. The point being - the waiting ...waiting... and we dealt with it. 12 on and off and the way the mind works at what teases it, draws it, holds it. The FEEL of coffee is more than its mere presence, more than the mug-in-hand ...it's the mind within the moment expanding to ...the now.

Patience is not the same as waiting is it? Waiting is an art form.

You 're two swallers late but welcome always and a good walk is close at hand
Wonderful, this expresses most of us in the morning...either reading the morning paper or watching the a.m. news. Always wondering...what bad is going to happen next. Valentine
