Snow Joke

Snow Joke

A Poem by Donald Meikle

I sit here, back sorely aching from moving fallen snow.wishing I had set up solar panels to melt it as it fell, or bought a war surplus machine to push it around.or an all wheel drive Ford Escape to just drive through it. Oh Yeah I did that last one, and the snowblower did my driveway and my neighbor's ,which is why my back hurts and here I sit while my wife shovels access to her wild birds and water sucking fish. There's something about useless never ending tasks that makes words flow just as uselessly. I suppose the trick is to harness and steer them well enough to profit from the experience in some magical way. Sorta kinda like Merlin's ibuprofen elixir.

It's rather like sweeping autumn leaves; they will still fall. Better to let nature do what it will do.
