rememories

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Do you remember when allday was a longer time?

When leaves danced along curbsides

Then sailed along gutters

When fog hid everything in cold wet white

and the conductor walked ahead of the double decker

holding a torch to follow

Or the brand new football crushed by a lorry

Two days before Christmas

and you found it hidden in the wardrobe

Or the day your uncle George let you drive the Mersey ferry

Some days never go away

How's today then?
