Cape Cod

Cape Cod

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Sand and salt and tar and gulls

Sun and wind and rolling tides

Solid folk with crispy crusts

Mellowed by the Cape Cod seasons

Held together by that loving trust

They weather all because they must

It's just, the way it has to be

The sand, the shore, the giving sea.

A testament to living free
