Encounter

Encounter

A Poem by I.R.

He believes in beauty;

He’s Venus as a boy.

~Bjork

Lips, teeth, creases, rough

Tongue.  The mild scent

Of mint and watermelon.

Sandpaper, ivory, fat petals,

Incense.

Neck, vein, reddish beard

Stubble.  A stream of sweat

And sagey, musky cologne.

Root, trunk, autumn leaves,

A river.

Chest, thin hair, a scar,

Flab and muscle.  Embrace,

The rise and fall of the abdomen.

Earth, savannah, a fault,

The mountain crashing onto the plains.

A star made up of pure gravity, pulsing.

Blood eroding veins, heart

Collapsing and exploding,

Neurons, impulses, chemicals.

Lava beneath Pele, melted iron

Core.  Grapefruit gushing open.

Two bodies.  Fatigue. Breath.

Sleep.  Dreaming of invasion.

Nightmares of the lack of it/Awakening to the lack of it.

Two fallen trees in the forest,

A thread of moss forming

Between them.

you speak in senses.

that's neat,
like walking into someone's house and identifying whom they are by the colors, the scents.
the shape and facing of their belongings.
