recovering addictA Poem by amelia.elainethis was inspired by NAKED HEARTS by Pax Analog -- [its a must read]. i rolled with the idea of a naked heart in a different since.deceat and drugs fill the air as she bares her all the light over head creates a spot light on her heart she reviels all she's hidden inside, all the secrets that would destroy a family and home
the scars on her thighs are clearly visible in the florestent light a secret she spoke to the world, no longer ashamed she opens her heart, stripped, bare, and bleeding the stories that caused her to cut her forearms and create a pattern of letters reading "used" illumenate the pain that she felt as the blade cut in her skin
no longer ashamed, she tells the world who she is inside and out, and how she remains a live through the words of this poem and the sentences that reviels a sense of belonging and understanding for those like herself
the blade no longer controls the roughness of my skin i'm a recovering addict, addiction to the sight of my blood is no longer what i crave, or desire © 2008 amelia.elaineReviews
