Our World Belongs to Them

Our World Belongs to Them

A Poem by lilyrose

The days drag on in never ending monotony
We sink lower in quicksand with faces of agony

There is no way out of this tedious daily grind
Greed and power want to keep us blind

The truth is twisted bent to their distortion
No empathy or compassion for our misfortune

We are caged animals in this world they created
They wear us down until we are dilapidated

Resistance is snuff out and abolished
Their cruel reality has already been polished

Pretty good, one of the best I've read so far. Nice work.

i particularly enjoy the last line there - that is how it feels, isn't it. i'd agree with jessica in that there could be more imagery and metaphor to add some more liveliness to this poem but i did enjoy reading it and believe it expresses something of importance :)

Hi lilyrose, I like your poem. I think that poetry should reflect the times that we live in and I think that your poem has a political bent to it. Poems don't always have to rhyme. If I were you I'd play around with metaphors and saying things in a unique way. In poetry it's not always what you say but how you say it.
