i will do anything

i will do anything

A Poem by lily pennvellyn

my heart fell and when I came to my senses I was on the floor

I felt as terrible as looked the man at the door

he watched. what if he saw? he crept. what if he heard?

I must not be a trader not now or evermore

I cried. I wept. I pleaded for all

the man took no pity and my name he did call

I got to my feet and looked him in the eye

he told me he knew and into the chair I did fall

he told me of help that he could provide

and I knew we would be safe by his side

I put all my faith in that untrustworthy man

I knew that my trust could always abide

I turned to the women and let out a sigh

nothing was realer than that nigh

I didn't know for sure, but it was hope

in his hands I hope we wouldn't die.

Author's Note

lily pennvellyn
this poem is sort of written to leave you in mystery, but I do want to clarify one thing. there are four people total in this poem. the women who was the main character was describing the whole experience with the man that she put her trust into. the man in the first stanza does not show up again, he is not the man in the other three stanzas. the women that she turned to was there the whole time, but she was only mentioned in the last stanza
