chapter 20

Lily looked at her happy baby playing in the yard with Nate. She knew that one day he would make a good dad. It might even be for Zadia. The dark thought crawled into her head. No she thought that can't happen. Victor will not die.

"Hey Lily can you get Zadia and bring her inside. I have to head home. Wait isn't your birthday in a few weeks. Wow your going to be 17. With a kid." He looked off into space.

"Yeah I know right. My little 11 month wonder. It seams like yesterday she started talking."

"It should that was last week." Nate chuckled.

"I know but she is growing up so fast." She thought about Zadia's birthday next month. April 9th. Wow that soon. She had her birthday in 2 weeks. 8th of march today she thought. Exactly 14 days till the 22nd.

"Hey babe I'm back from chemotherapy. Now come here and give me hugs and kisses." Victor called into the house.

"Coming babe." Lily ran into his arms and kissed him over and over. "Damn I love you." She had the radio on. The Last Night by Skillet came on. "I love this song." She mumbled into his shirt. Then soon began dancing.

Nate knew why she loved that song. She had tried to kill herself after Nate left. The only thing that stopped her was Victor. The funny thing was. He never knew how much she loved him. She couldn't see how much Victor loved her. The thing was Nate did. Nate saw Lily stare. Nate saw Victor breath become uneven when she came into the room. He had seen Lily ask him for a hug almost everyday. It was funny when they were little then Nate began to feel love for lily and he couldn't stand to watch her fall on her face trying to get Victor to notice her. "Damn I love her." He hadn't noticed he had said it out loud.

"What you say." Lily mumbled in dream like voice. The song began to get quitter till it faded out of audibility. The song scream for my ice cream began to come out of the speakers. Lily began to loosen her grip on victor. She began to rock and dance. "Scream for my ice cream tell me all your dirty dreams." Lily sung along with the song. 

Nate could see where this was leading he picked Zadia up off the floor and carried her to the playroom. She looked at Nate and began to chatter away. 

"Do you like mommy? Cause she is getting married to daddy so you cant have her."

"You need to go to aunt Emma's soon. Don't you." He grabbed the stroller and called Emma can you come and get Zadia go in the back." He told Emma to get Zadia and don't ask questions. Soon after Zadia and Emma left he began to hear lily screaming.


"Yes yes yes" Lily screamed on and on. Each word stabbed Nate in the heart. He heard the song playing from the radio and the pounding from the living room the screams and yells from Lily and the moans from Victor.

"He quickly went to the stairs in the kitchen and went up to lily's room. He sat on the bed quietly and waited to see Lily come upstairs to grab clothes and a towel and shower. He sat. Lily's mom poked her head in. 

"You think they could be any louder." She walked into the room and shut the door behind her. "I have heard some loud lovers but Lily is the worst. I can't believe my own daughter would be so loud."

"Oh hi mom." A half naked Lily said as she opened the door to her room. "Oh hi Nate." Her face becoming very red very fast. "Hey Nate can you hand me my sweats and a t shirt and a towel. Oh and the same from Victors drawers." She said quickly.

"I would ask if your surprised by her being so loud but you already knew she was loud."

"Yeah look at it this way. I knew she was loud before you and before Victor." He thought back to the night they had gone to far. She had ended up pregnant from her first time. He chuckled inwardly. My kid. He thought it was his kid. "That kid is so much like her. I wanted to claim it she wouldn't let me. She had victor claim it."

"No Lily I will not make you sushi. I don't want to be framed for your food poisoning. I won't even buy the fish. Besides you make everything better." A freshly showered and clothed Victor said sternly.

"Why not babe." Lily had her arms wrapped around victors waist. "I won't get sick i swear. Last time you made it i didn't get food poisoning i got morning sickness. I didn't know i was pregnant then."

"No lily not again. You make it." He said pulling her off his waist.

"Please."  She pouted.

"No. I said no and that's finale." He left the room.

"I will make the sushi lily." Nate said.

"You will. Thank you so much."

"No problem." What have i got myself into. Nate thought to himself. I barely can cook toast let alone sushi.
