Can't

Can't

A Poem by Steph Morgan
"

Writer's block is so frustrating.

"

Blank page

Blank space

Wide, expansive

Staring at it, glassy-eyed

I

Want to write

I

Can’t

I’m trying

My mind is settled

My music is soft

My fingers are itching

To go, go, go

But there’s nothing

No words come flowing

No ideas lighting up

The dark recesses of my mind

Where dust stirs and

Settles

Minutes fly past

Tick tick tick

Tock tock tock

Going too fast

Going too slow

I just want to let it out

I know it’s there

That fire

It’s burning bright

Lighting me up

A passion that leaves me

Breathless

It needs to escape but

It can’t

I’m trying to help it

But it

Just

Won’t

Come
