that thing we call love

that thing we call love

A Poem by lillian

i like seeing hugs outside of coffee shops
cause it reminds me that two people can be in love.
there's dust on my bible, did you know?
i don't wanna believe if he can't believe in me.

i like seeing playful love
the kind that makes you smile.
when hands get close, they almost touch
then linger for awhile.
wrap around into a boundless love
they'll push shoulders, splash water, and unconditionally profess
that thing we call love and four letters of progress.

it gives me a hope that there's someone who believes
that their wife will look a little something like me.
but if there's not, i'm happy for you
keep holding hands, keep saying i do
for who am i to get in the way
of that one in a billion chance
that you'll find someone who loves you
someone who will hold your hand.

so hugs outside of coffee shops
and figures that meet as one
give me hope for some kind of future
and that thing we call love.
