the girl in white

the girl in white

A Poem by lillian

the girl in white
flowers in hand
praising sanity
praising that man
a dandelion darling
always tries to see the light
brags about redemption
in the steeple's eyes
but then something better
a chance to be known
a recognition calling
a new kind of throne
and then the snakes
in calvary
replace those sparks
with crosses burning
then in those eyes
the devil's flare
you'll see soon
how deep they stare
but the snakes wrap around her
and they come from within
a tangible silence
a new kind of woman
the lies from the past
the truths from inside
a spectacular feeling
an emotional suicide
maybe her head aches
shouldn't have relied on
those bumper sticker truths
that now act as a synagogue
so there in the dirt
her heads stick askew
one for the priest
and one for you
and in the ground
is where she'll lay
no resurrection
no third day
so where is she?
apart from flesh
a modified rhythm
a dream to catch?
alas we see her
again in all white
catching the moon
catching its light
not a ghost not a spirit
no poltergeist
but a figure standing tall
alone in the night
she weeps in darkness
a veil hides her face
she watched her funeral
from that distance space
a realm beyond ours
split in half then again
and yet they still see her
a feat that comes from within
and what does she say
when the lies stack against?
she says, "be still child,
for i've been born again."
