If the World Were a SongA Poem by SpiceCookieIf the world were a song...If the world were a song, love would be the melody. It would be joyful, giving, kind, twirling and laughing and dancing without a care. It's also the ringing voice, the one that stands out and tells you how wonderful everything is. Sometimes it would be serene, and other times bouncy and light. It would always be vulnerable to messing up, and it's the one that would make the most impact if it did. Yet it still opens its heart and sings on. If the world were a song, unhappiness would be the harmony. It's quiet, but steady. It's what supports the melody's sound and compliments it, to make it better. Many people push it away and refuse to acknowledge it, but where would happiness be without sadness? It takes conflict to become stronger, and it takes darkness for there to be light. They are the same, you see. The harmony and the melody are individual songs, singing together. If the world were a song, hatred would be the dissonance. Or it could be the places where we fall out of rhythm, the frustration and harsh reality of the way some people loathe and detest. It's what messes up things, and it's also what teaches us that we have to start over sometimes. If the world were a song, everyone would be singing. Sometimes we'd lose our voice, clash against the tune. We'd drop out when we can't go on, but then join back in, and we'd make lots and lots of mistakes. But it'll all be okay in the end, because if the world were a song, it would be a beautiful song of joy and forgiveness. As long as everyone works together to find the right notes, we can all sing together and make the world a song. © 2018 SpiceCookie |
