Star

Star

A Poem by SpiceCookie
"

Written by a 10 year old, question asked by a four year old. :)

"
"What's that?" I ask my mother
on the night of my 4th birthday.
"That's a star, honey" she answers,
pulling me onto my back on the blanket.
I stare at it.
It's a spark of light with
so much energy that it could explode
into something big, something so bright
it could light up the sky that's so dark and black.
It could take over the moon if it wants to,
Be the queen of the night sky and go wherever it wants to go...
But it doesn't.
It stays a small spark of twinkling light.
I reach out,
hoping to touch it
because I like it that way: sweet and small.

Though it was a simple poem, you gave life and meaning to the simplest of things. It was lovely :) I liked it.

thank you! :)
The power of little twinkles has always been a mystery, they mystify and hypnotize us all. Very imaginative and creative topic, I wish I had thought to write a poem about them. I look forward to reading your future poetry and thank you for letting us read them.
