Satin and LeatherA Chapter by SonyaChapter 1: Leila and Alva
"Alva, why not go play with Leila, she's waiting outside." "Yes Alva, play with your twin sister, you two are one." "You must act alike, talk alike, dress alike, and live alike."
"Of course, sir knight." Alva bowed awkardly in front of the men, a feeling of scorn growing weakly in her chest.

"Alva? Alva where are you?" Leila screeched. She sighed contemptly, wishing her sister did not harbor such a free-spirit. She understood the sister needed time on her own lately, with their sixteenth birthday just now coming up. Leila, she was excited for the celebration. But Alva, she could not care. "Another year closer to death." she said. Leila did not understand Alva's outlook on the world and fate. Alva's way of thinking was dangerous, and considered heresy.
"Leila, please, let your sister take her time in life." A woman, surely in only her twenties, with pink hair and sightless eyes insisted. She was Lady Kize` Goddess of Wisdom and Gracings. Her blind eyes closed off. Seeing only the oblivion. Also, she was Queen Carin's sister. "Alva is a gentle girl I assure, but very distant, it's your job as her sister to understand that." Her faint smile radiated the blue gown and sky.
Leila bowed gently, giving a sigh of acknowledgement. "Of course, m'lady."

"Leila, Alva, this is where you were!" a knight, huffing and panting, found the two girls near the Fateful Garden. The twins had risen up, running to their chambers.
Alva hesitated, seeing the banner marked:
HENCE THE GODDESS' DAUGHTERS AS THEY ENTER THEIR SIXTEENTH YEAR ON THIS BEAUTIFUL UNIVERSE.
Snorting in disgust, she ran quickly to her bed. It makes no sense they make such a big deal of this. We're equal to the mortals, are we not? The thought haunted her mind overnight. She glanced at the black rose which stood in the red vase, glistening like no other. Any other time, it would be offensive to present such a rose, but for Alva... For Alva, the rose was a great honor. It meant the distinction of her and Leila. Meant that she was different. A gift from a mysterious Goddess, her mother had once said.
Leila's rose, on the other hand. A white rose in a blue vase. Blessed to her by Hera herself. The Goddess of marriage and Goddesses.
The never-ending cycle of peace, would wilt though... © 2009 Sonya |
