lie awake

lie awake

A Poem by J. C. Alvares

She sleeps. No dreams could wake her up. Spoken words got lost halfway.

She’s tired enough not to hear the thunder shaking the window frames. Lightning strikes and she sleeps in.

She’s late for class. And when awake, she doesn’t speak.

They’re not looking now. She dreams.
