  You Never Know

P. L. C

                                 Summary
Lanna is a 14 year old girl with no parents and her one girl friend named Taylor. She also has her best friends named K.C., Neer, and Nate. Those three boys have been with her ever since 3rd grade. Lanna is super smart but her friends cause a lot of trouble around her neighborhood. One day, the play-boy Danny starts some stuff with Lanna and for her, everything starts crashing down. She finds out that she’s going to be living with Danny! What’s going to happen to her? Well, You Never Know.

“Come back here you damn kids!”

“Run for it Lanna”!

Running as fast as she could, Lanna dashes off with her friends to the riverbank under the Broken Bridge.

“Holy crap! That was way too close! I didn’t think the old guy had it in him.” Said K.C. while panting, trying to catch his breath.

“Do you think he’ll follow us here?” Nate asked while getting up and walking to the river.

“No. He’s definitely not going to.” Lanna replied.

“Why do you think that?” asked Neer.

“Because he doesn’t have the balls to stand up to the four of us.” she said.

“All we did was write our names on the side of his store. What’s so bad about that?” K.C. laughed and then started walking away from them.

“Where do you think you’re going? We’re going to crash at my place tonight. I told Taylor that we’d wait for her here.” Lanna got up to look around for Taylor. She took out her cell phone to call Taylor. The phone rang for a while and then someone picked up.

“Hello? Taylor? Is that you?” Lanna was asking so many questions because usually, Taylor would pick up immediately.

“Um…*sniffle* hi Lanna…” Taylor sounded like she just cried the Atlantic Ocean out of her eyes.

“Are you okay? What’s wrong? Where are you?” Lanna and Taylor were good friends. Taylor was the only girl friend that Lanna had. Other girls never liked Lanna much.

“Um, yeah *hiccup*. I’m okay. Nothing w-wrong, I’m in the school’s backyard. *sniffle*.” Taylor sighed. “I’ll be at the B.B. in a minute. Bye.” She hung up.

“So, when’s Taylor coming?” Neer asked. He loved Taylor like a little sister. Out of all five of them, Taylor was the youngest. Then Neer, Lanna, K.C., and Nate.

“I have no idea. She said in a minute. She sounded like s**t. I think something’s up.” Lanna’s expression was tense with worry.

“Don’t sweat it. We’ll make her cheer up when she get’s here.” said Nate.

*Splash*

“Cold”!

“What the hell?” Neer yelled.

“K.C. … you’re an idiot.” said Lanna, standing at the edge of the river.

K.C. had jumped into the river with his cloths on. It was summer but, the river water was ice cold all year around.

“Yeah, I may be an idiot. But you know what? I’m the most awesome idiot you’ll ever meet.” K.C. said with a big goofy grin. He swam around a bit and then Lanna jumped in to join him. Nate and Neer jumped in after them.

“Then, I guess we’ll all be idiots together.” Lanna said. They all laughed and then got out of the water. All of them were soaked to the bone.

“Ahem”. They all looked up and saw Danny. He was known for his messing around. “Heartbreaker” is what most of the girls called him. Lanna never paid any attention to him. He was in all of her classes though. He was always the one making noise or disrupting class. An idiot is what she preferred to call him.

“What do you want?” Lanna asked. She walked up to him. She was walking kinda’ weird from her dripping wet jeans.

“Oh nothing, but just so you know, I didn’t do anything to her.” Danny said. He walked away with his hands in his pockets.

“What the hell was that?” asked K.C. as he came up behind her.

“Nothing special.” she replied.

“Hey! You guys! I got a call from Taylor. She said that she can’t meet us and that we should all go to your house without her.” said Neer.

“Wow. She almost never misses a chance to go to Lanna’s house.” said Nate.

“Yeah…” Lanna started walking towards her house with the boys following close behind.

                                    At Lanna’s House

“We’re definitely going to get sick.” said Neer as they were entering Lanna’s apartment. She lives alone. When she was about five, her father died in a car accident. Her mom had a hard time taking care of her because of financial issues.

Even then, her mom never complained and was always there for Lanna. Lanna never asked for anything. She knew better. She didn’t have any other family except for her aunt on her mom’s side. Her aunt visited whenever she could. She had a husband and four kids to take care of though. Then, when Lanna was 11, her mom died of a heart attack. Her mom’s one wish was that Lanna finished school and for her to live her life the way she wanted. Her mom also said that Lanna should find Hanna. Lanna remembers that when she was smaller, there was this beautiful woman that used to live next to them. She had an older daughter and a little boy that was around Lanna’s age. She used to play with him a lot. But for some reason, she can’t remember his name. Their family moved, so that’s the last she remembers about Hanna.

K.C., Neer, and Nate have been her family ever since. Lanna’s aunt still sends some money every month for rent, food, and other stuff. It’s still nice to know that her aunt still thinks about her. She could’ve lived with her aunt, but Lanna didn’t want to crowd their already crowded house.

“Lanna I’m using the shower.” Nate closed the door to the bathroom.

“Are you guys’ hungry?” Lanna asked as she went to her fridge.

“Yeah we are! But um… first, shouldn’t you change out of your wet cloths?” Neer smiled and then turned on the radio.

“Don’t worry babe! We won’t peek.” said K.C. with a stupid smile. He covered his eyes with his hands.

“Yeah, right” Lanna said sarcastically. She went into her room and locked the door.

“That’s the way to trust us!” K.C. yelled sarcastically.

“No. It’s how I trust you. Neer and Nate wouldn’t try anything, unlike you!” Lanna laughed and changed into a pair of black basketball shorts and a black beater with a red rose on it. She unlocked the door of her room and went into the kitchen.

“*Cat call* someone looks hot!” K.C. said. He laughed and then ran into the kitchen.

“Don’t you dare touch me. But you’d better help me make dinner or you’re not gonna’ eat.” Lanna said. She got out a chopping board and started cutting carrots.

“Hey! How come I have to? Why doesn’t Neer or Nate have to?” K.C. made a little winning sound and did a puppy dog pout.

“Well, because I’m special and because Neer will help anyway. Oh, and because it’s just funny to torture you!” said Nate as he came out of the bathroom fully dressed. All the boys had most of their cloths at her house. They slept over almost everyday. Their parent’s don’t really care.

“Very funny.” said K.C., sounding a little grumpy.

“Chill it. Let’s just hurry and make some food.” said Neer. He boiled some water and started putting in chicken broth.

“We’re having stew. You don’t like, you don’t eat.” Lanna said sternly. The boys nodded.

                                      Dinner Time

*Shake, shake, shake, shake a shake it!* the radio was playing. Shake it by Metro Station.

“See Lanna, I’m not the only one who wants you to shake it. The radio does to!” K.C. said while chugging down a can of Pepsi.

“Shut up and eat you pig.” Lanna said. She started eating when suddenly her cell rang.

“Talk”

“Lanna I’m coming.”

“Oh, Taylor, okay.”

“Bye.”

“Bye.” Lanna hung up and went to her room.

“What are you doing?” asked Nate from the table.

“Taylor called and said she’s coming. I’m setting up my room for her. She won’t sleep in the same room with K.C.” Lanna smirked and went back to her business.

“Why only me” K.C. asked through a mouthful of food.

“Well duhr. It’s because you play around too much. Lanna is used to it. Taylor is more…hmm...how you say...delicate!” Neer said.

“In other words, you scare her.” Nate replied. Lanna, Neer, and Nate laughed.

*Knock, knock*

“Taylor’s here!” Neer jumped from his chair and ran to the door.

“Wow, he’s hyper.” Nate said.

“No. He just loves her a lot.” Lanna said to herself. She smiled and walked to the door.

As soon as Neer opened the door, Taylor jumped on him. She was sobbing like crazy. She was babbling about something that no one could understand. Lanna pulled her off of Neer.

“Breath Taylor” Nate told her. He lifted her up and took her to Lanna’s bed.

“Jeez, what happened to her?” K.C. asked as he walked into the room.

“That’s what we’re trying to figure out.” Lanna said. “Okay Taylor, tell me what happened.” Lanna said, trying to calm Taylor down.

“He, he said such mean things to me!” It was quiet. Then Taylor screamed into the pillow she was now hugging close to her chest.

“Holy crap” K.C said.

“I know” Nate replied.

“Okay, you all know Danny right? Well, I’ve liked him for a while, I told you Neer. I finally got the guts to ask him out and told him to meet me at the school’s back yard. When he got there, and I quote, he said “Don’t bother asking me out. Save your wasted breath for some other guy that you might make miserable one day. You don’t meet my standards for a decent girl. You’re lower. You’re not even on my radar. You’re breast, well, you have none. You’re hair is garbage, your cloths are *throw up sound* and your school

Work is as retarded as your face. Your kind of ugly should be locked in a cage and thrown to the bottom of an ocean!” he said that and just walked away!” Taylor looked down.

“Holy mother freaking shot” K.C. was completely shocked.

“He’s going to regret that. I’ll rip out his eyeballs out and play ping-pong with them!” Neer was fuming.

“He’s definitely dead.” Nate agreed.

Then, Lanna remembered what Danny had said to her. “I didn’t do anything to her.” He said

“You guys shouldn’t do anything to him!” Taylor said.

“Are you freaking fruit loops?” asked Neer. “Of course we have to!”

“He’s got fan girls, bitchy ones. They’ll rip you apart with they’re plastic nails before you get to him.” Taylor exclaimed.

“We don’t hut girls.” Nate said.

“Lanna does” K.C. suggested with excitement.

“I could…I should…but…I won’t .They might follow me here. I don’t need them to know anything about Me.” She didn’t need attention from those killer girls.

“You know, what he said isn’t true at all. Not one bit! He’s just into big-breasted monsters. And might I add, they’re also w****s?” Lanna said. Her voice was mocking but serious.

“Your face is definitely not retarded. You’re beautiful.” Neer told Taylor.

“Thanks guys, I’m glad you’re all my friends.” She hugged them and then slowly drifted off to sleep.

“What are we going to do about him?” K.C. asked eagerly as they went into the living room. He loved fighting. He’s just your natural knucklehead.

“Hmmm…?” Lanna was lying on the floor on her pillow with a blanket covering her. She was lying on her side and looked up at K.C. She was thinking about what to do about Danny. His nickname shouldn’t be “The heartbreaker” it should be “The Lady Killer” Lanna thought.

“Lanna”

“Huh?” K.C. calling her had interrupted her thinking.

“So, what are we going to do about him?” Neer asked.

“Nothing.” She said. “I mean, until I figure out what his deal is. I think something’s up with the situation. Well, goodnight,” She turned over and tried to sleep.

“Lazy a*s” K.C. laughed and then went to sleep.

Nate slept with a pillow on his face. Neer slept on the floor with Lanna. Lanna tried hard to get to sleep. Her mind was just too filled with questions and theories to relax. So, she decided to take a walk around the Broken Bridge River.

Lanna put on a pair of her black jeans and a white short sleeved shirt. She grabbed her black sweater and put on her black and white Air Nikes
                                   At The B.B.River

The night air was cool. There was no moon out tonight so it was pretty dark. As Lanna walked down the small hill to the edge of the river, she saw someone sitting at the river bank. She couldn’t really see who it was, but the streetlight gave off enough light so that she could see that it was a guy. He had really dark, black hair. Almost pitch black. Lanna thought hers was black, but compared to his, its nothing. He was turned towards the river so she couldn’t see his face.

“Should I go down there?” Lanna asked herself. The guy didn’t seem dangerous. He looked her age. So, she started walking down, very carefully.

Then, the guy suddenly turned around like a cat ready to pounce. Lanna instantly knew who it was.

“Well, well. Who do we have here, Little Lanna right?”

“Uhhhgg, its Danny.” Lanna thought. “First off, I’m not “Little Lanna” and second, what the hell man?” Lanna sat next to him on the river bank. Close enough to hear his words if he spoke, but far enough so that she couldn’t feel the heat that was accelerating from his body, so far so good.

Lanna didn’t look at him. Still, she could feel his gaze on her. It was silent for a moment. It was probably only 2 minutes but for Lanna, it felt like a year. The tension between them wasn’t decreasing. Luckily, it didn’t seem to increase either.

“So I guess that girl, Taylor right? She told you what I’m supposedly done?” Danny sounded a bit tired, like he was frustrated with himself.

“Yeah but… what I don’t get is that you came to me before Lanna and said you did nothing.” Lanna said the words slowly like she was trying to figure it out while she let the words come out. “It’s…confusing.”

“Says the genius girl herself” Danny teased. “Anyway, it’s only because I really didn’t do anything!” Danny replied with a sigh.

“You called her a retard, made fun of her face, told her she has no b***s, and that she’s the lowest form of a girl, how can you tell me that you didn’t do anything?!?” Lanna was yelling and pretty much was pissed off to the max. She wasn’t pissed at Danny; she was pissed that she actually couldn’t figure this out for herself. She wasn’t used to not knowing and being shocked.

“Please, I don’t want to fight with you. I’ll be able to fight with you the rest of the year. Just please, not today.” Danny sounded desperate. But really, think about what you know about me. I’ve been known as “Heartbreaker”.

Rumors have been spread far and wide about me. But, none of these rumors have ever been about my cruelty to a girl. I’d never say anything like that to a girl. That’s just too low. I need you to believe me. You barely know me, but if you don’t believe me I think there will be problem between us. So please, try to understand me, just this once. “Danny’s voice cracked a bit on his last sentence.

Lanna barely even noticed this guy before today. How the hell was she supposed to believe him when she never talked to him before? But somehow, he seemed…to make, an impression on her. But how was she supposed to believe him over Taylor, even though Taylor’s story didn’t really sound right.” Lanna was extremely confused.

“Wait a second…making an impression on me?!? Oh no, I’m not…no! Not possible! His playboy ways wouldn’t get me! Not me!” Lanna was suddenly lost in thought. She snapped out of it. “Well, it’s almost midnight. I think I’ll head home now.” Lanna said. She started to get up when suddenly; she felt something on her wrist. It was warm, a bit rough, but still soft in a way. It had a good grip on her.

“Wait, I’ll walk you home.” Danny said to her as he released his grip on her wrist.

Lanna thought for a moment. There was a possibility that K.C. or Nate would be sitting on her front steps like they usually did when she does for her night walks and they wake up. Neer sleeps like a monster so he doesn’t even wake up until he wants to. If they are, as soon as they see Danny, they’d probably pound the crap out of him!

“Ummm…I don’t think you should do that. It’s for your own safety.” Lanna said as she started walking away.

“That’s funny. I was going to walk you home for your safety.” Danny said. He got up and dusted himself off. “Besides, I need to talk to you a little more. It’s about a different subject.”

“Well…tell me tomorrow. I have to go. Bye” Lanna waved goodbye and ran off.

                            Inside Lanna’s House
Lanna slowly closed her door and locked it. She walked into the living room and saw that Neer had rolled all the way to the bathroom door in his sleep. He really is a monster when he sleeps. Nate was in the same exact position as he was before. But K.C. was nowhere in sight.

“K.C., are you in here?” Lanna whispered. There was no answer. Lanna decided to go check on Taylor. Lanna was about to open the door to her room but, she heard something inside.

“Yeah…said it… thinks …knows…he never said…hate…” It sounded like Taylor. She was talking on her cell phone. Lanna couldn’t tell who she was talking to though. But when Taylor hung up, she laughed. It wasn’t her normal laugh. Her normal laugh was like the tinkling of bells. This laugh sounded cruel and triumphant.

“What’s going on?” Lanna asked herself. She wondered is she should go in or not. Lanna decided not to go in. It was about one in the morning. Lanna was exhausted. She lay on the floor and tried to sleep. Her day was so strange. She couldn’t really tell who she should believe. Taylor was acting pretty weird. Then, Lanna remembered that Danny had to talk to her about something.

“What would he have to talk to me about? I already talked to him. That was weird enough! I think he might be up to something too.” Lanna was whispering to herself. Then, the opening of her door stopped her babbling. Lanna instantly got up and walked over to her door. Then, she glanced at the clock. It was 2:26 in the morning.

“Hehehe…what’s up Lanna? Did I wake you?” It was K.C. as usual.

“Where did you go? How come you’re coming back so late?”

“Jeez, chill out. What are you my mama?” K.C. walked past Lanna and sat down on the couch.

“No. I’m definitely not your mom. I wouldn’t have an ape for a child.” Lanna said. It was 2:30 in the freaking morning. K.C. was pissing her off at the wrong time of day. “Scratch that last sentence. It’s too early in the morning to fight with you. Goodnight…or…good morning?” Lanna lay down again and finally fell asleep.
      In The Morning
*Slam!*
*Shhhhhh*
“Not again!”

“Shut up! You’ll wake Lanna up!”

Lanna heard the usual amount of noise and slowly opened her eyes. It took some time to adjust to the suddenly brightness. She saw two faces in front of her.

“See, I told you that you were going to wake her up!” Neer said. He smiled down at Lanna.

“My bad, Nate’s hogging the damn shower again!” K.C. said as he went to turn on the TV.

“Uhhhggg…what time is it?” Lanna asked as she sat up. She was so tired.

“12:51 in the afternoon.” Taylor came out of the bedroom with a smile. She was wearing a denim skirt with black leggings. She had a tank-top on. It was pink. Her flats were pink. Her hair was down and had a pink and black striped bow in it, pink and black bracelet, necklace, and earrings.

“Holy huckleberries” Lanna said instantly “Where are you going? And…HOLY CRAP IT’S 12:51???” Lanna jumped up and ran to the bathroom. She started banging on the bathroom door.

“Nate! Hurry up! I need to use the shower!” As soon as Lanna finished her sentence, Nate opened the door, fully dressed and smiling.

“It’s all yours.” Nate said.

“Hey! No fair! She only knocks for like, three seconds and I knock for half an hour. You answer for her?” K.C. was ranting again. He doesn’t know when to just shut up and listen.

“It’s because I’m special and you’re not.” Lanna said. She stuck her tongue out at him before closing the door.
           At School

“Why are you all so late!?!” Mr. Malain was yelling at the boys and Lanna. Taylor had left earlier than them and had a note so she just got a warning.

“Chaotic morning, that’s all.” Lanna replied. She quickly walked past Mr. Malain and into the classroom. The boys followed.

“Jeez, what crawled up his butt and died?” Lanna exclaimed. She sat in her seat for math. K.C. sat behind her, Nate was to her left, and Neer was to her right. Lanna looked around. Danny was sitting in the back of the class and talking with some random chick. She laughed and flipped her (obviously dyed) hair back. Then, he looked at Lanna through the corner of his eye. The girl tapped him and he shifted his gaze to her.

“Lanna Mizuka and Danny Inori, please report to the office immediately.” The loudspeaker was calling them. They both got up and slowly left the room.

“This is what I wanted to talk to you about.” Danny suddenly said.
                        Inside the Principal’s Office

When Lanna and Danny got into the office, the principal, Mr.Borain, was sitting in his chair. There was another person in the room. A woman. Her hair was short and wavy. She was wearing a skirt with a very business-like blouse. She looked very beautiful. She had a lot of jewelry on. Not the kind that blinds your eyes. There were, nice…trinkets. Lanna thought that she must be a designer or something. She looked a bit familiar.

“Hello Lanna. Please, sit down.” Mr.Borain made a slight gesture with his hand towards the chair near the woman.

“Um, alright” Lanna managed to say. She sat down. She was feeling a bit nervous.

“Hi, my name is Hanna Inori.” The woman said with a smile. She held out her hand for a hand shake.

“Oh my gosh. Inori? Danny’s mother? No freaking way!” Lanna was spazzing in her mind. En she snapped back into reality. She realized that she forgot to shake the woman’s hand. She quickly shook her hand and smiled.

“Okay, well, Hanna has something that she had to discuss with you Lanna” Mr.Borain explained.

“Yeah okay, shoot.” Lanna said. She turned to face Hanna. “So?”

“Well, I’m a very good friend of your mother. I used to live next to you when you were smaller. You played with Hanna a lot.” Hanna paused. She looked at Lanna’s face as if to try and see her thoughts.

Lanna’s real thoughts: “Holy mother of dribbling donkies! This is Hanna! THE Hanna! And, and, Danny, is that little boy! This is making me dizzy…”

“Lanna” Lanna jumped a bit at the voice. Danny called her. “I know it’s sudden, but please, you have to listen.” Danny said.

“Well, before your mom dies, she called me and asked me if I could take you in when you turned 14. So, I’m here to take you home with me.” Hanna said. She sounded kind. But there was a hint of worry in her voice.

Lanna just started back at Lanna. Her face was expressionless.

“…um…wha-what di-did she say?” Lanna was having a mini mental breakdown. But, she managed to keep herself from dropping to the floor and laughing hysterically.

“S-so…why didn’t you get me…before? Why now?” Lanna stared intently at Hanna.
               Page 16
I’m truly sorry about that. My husband, Kevin Inori, and I had gone on a business trip to Japan. We left Danny and his brother with his grandmother. We came back two weeks ago.” Hanna replied.

Lanna thought for a moment.

“But…wouldn’t I be…crowding your home?” Lanna asked.

“No! Of course not! You’ll even have your own room! Danny’s sister, Angelina, she moved away for college about a year ago. You’ll be in her room.” Hanna replied with a smile.

“Or, you would sleep in my bed with me.” Danny suddenly said. He flashed a big smile at Lanna.

*Bang!*

Hanna had grabbed a notebook from Mr.Borain’s desk and slapped Danny in the head with it.

“Nice job Hanna!” Lanna laughed.

“Of course” Hanna replied.

“This might not turn out to be as great as I thought it would be.” Danny said as he rubbed the top of his head. Then they all laughed.

“Well, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be able to move you in by tonight.” Hanna said.

“Crap…do I really want to do this?” Lanna asked herself.

“You know what? After a week, if you don’t like living with us, you can move back.” Hanna sounded kind of sad when she said it. But she hid it with a
smile.

“Oh, alright then, but, can I move in tomorrow?” Lanna wanted to sleep in her house one last time.

“Yes. Of course honey.” Hanna hugged Lanna and her and Danny left.

“So? You’re okay with this?” Lanna asked Mr.Borain.

“Not exactly. But, I think it’s what’s best for you.” He replied. You’re dismissed.”

So, Lanna left the office. The bell had already rung for dismissal. Neer, Nate, and K.C. were probably at her house already.

“This is just peachy!” Lanna exclaimed sarcastically. She walked on and finally got to her home.

All she needed to do was try and find a way to tell the boys and Taylor about her situation. It definitely wasn’t going to be easy, that’s for sure.

As Lanna opened the door to her house, she could hear the radio.

*Keeping your love lock down, your love lockdown,* Love lockdown, Kanye West

“K.C., Neer, Nate? Anybody alive?” Lanna took off her shoes and went into her living room. Empty. The kitchen, empty. Then her bedroom.

“Boo b***h.”

When Lanna got into her room that was the first thing she heard. It was Taylor.

”Well hello to you too my w***e” Lanna replied. She laughed and then asked “So, how the hell did you get a note and get to school before us this morning?”

“I had my Nanny write one for me before I crashed here. I called her to drive me to school this morning.” Taylor replied, sounded smug. She seemed different from her usual self.

“Lanna! I’m home baby!” K.C. ran into the room screaming.

“I’m not your baby you knucklehead!” Lanna yelled as K.C. picked her up and gently threw her on the bed.

“Ger off of her or else you’re getting thrown out of the window.” Nate said as he walked into the room.

“Taylor! Hi! Lanna, I got you something!” Neer smiled as he came into the bedroom. There was a small turquoise bag in his hand.

“Hi Neer” Taylor replied.

“Really? What is it?” Lanna jumped up, knocking K.C. off of her and practically ran to Neer.

“Actually, we got something for you.” said Nate.

“No, you and I just gave the money. Neer picked it out.” K.C. said.

“And she’s lucky I did. K.C. wanted to get you some new bras!” Neer said. Then they all laughed. Except for Taylor. She was texting on her phone.

“Hey! Cell freak, get a grip.” Lanna joked.

Taylor instantly shot a death glare at Lanna. The boys didn’t seem to notice. Then, Taylor when back to her texting.

“What the hell is her problem?” Lanna thought.

“Well? What are you waiting for? Open it!” K.C. said.

“Okay, okay” Lanna took the bag from Neer and opened it. There was a long white box. She lifted its top off.

“Oh my gosh. You guys! I love it so much! You really shouldn’t have wasted money for me though” It was a beautiful silver necklace. A charm hung from it. It was shaped in a heart. It was a locket. On the front of it, her name was written on it. She opened the locket. It was two sided. The left side had a picture of Neer, Nate, and K.C. in it. They were all smiling and laughing. On the right side, was a picture of her mother and father on their wedding day.

“We didn’t waste money. We spent money for someone we care about.” Nate said.

“Thank you so much!” Lanna got hugged all of them.

“I wonder if you deserve that.” Taylor suddenly muttered.

“What did you just say?” Lanna turned to face Taylor.

“Oh, nothing at all honey. I’m so happy for you.” Taylor smiled an obviously fake smile.

“Right” Lanna replied sarcastically. She walked out of the room.

“What’s up with them?” Nate asked

“No freaking idea.” K.C answered

“I have a bad feeling. There’s something strange about the way Taylor’s acting.” Neer whispered.

“Ditto” the other two said. They followed Lanna into the living room.

“I have something that I have to tell you guys.” Lanna said. “Sit down first.” The boys did as they were told. Lanna wasn’t sure about how she should say this stuff to them.

“Well, you all know Danny. His mother is Hanna Inori. Hanna and my mother were best friends for a long time. She just got back from a like, four year business trip. My mom told her that… she should take me in. And so, that’s why Danny and I got called to the office. I’m going to live with him starting tomorrow.” She rushed through the last part and plopped down on the floor.

There was complete silence. It even seemed like the clock had stopped ticking. The boys’ faces were completely expressionless. Lanna thought that they were probably having a mental breakdown.

“A-are you shiting me???!!!” K.C. jumped off of the couch yelling.

“He’s a freaking maniac! We can’t let toy live with him!” Neer shouted.

“Danny is the last person I want for you to be in the same house as. Let alone the same room!” Nate screamed.

“First off, no I’m not shiting you. Second, he’s not a maniac and I think he’s a decent person. Third, who ever said that we were going to share a room? I get my own. His little brother lives there too you know. His mom is home most of the time. His dad is still on a trip.” Lanna tried her best to explain everything. That plan didn’t work out so well.

That makes the situation only 3 percent better!” said K.C.

“You-YOU MOTHER F*****G B***H!” Taylor came out of no where yelling at the top of her lungs! “You don’t deserve him. I do. You don’t even deserve K.C. or Neer or Nate! You deserve to be alone!” She looked so different. Her eyes were filled with rage. Her face was hard with stress and anger. She usually looked so innocent and gentle.

“What the hell is wrong with you, you crazy psycho b***h?!?” Lanna screamed at Taylor. “I don’t deserve what I have but you do? How the f**k does that work huh? You’re the one with a nanny. At least YOU have both of your damn parents!” That last hurt Lanna a bit when she said it. She walked up to Taylor. “I thought you were me friend.” She said.

“You retarded t**d. I was never your friend. It was set from the beginning. They know everything about you. I always hated you. ALWAYS! I don’t know why, but whenever I look at your face, it makes me sick. I’m Angel’s sister. Samantha is my best friend.” Taylor was going ballistic. Samantha and Angel are the big breasted b*****s/w****s of their school. The ones that start s**t with everyone for no reason, the ones that almost everyone despises, the evil girls that are Danny’s number one fans.

“You-you used me trust to find out dirt on me??? How the hell do you sleep at night??? You used out friendships for your own personal gain! I thought you hated Danny!” Lanna yelled back. This was way too much for her to take in one day. She was so close to the edge.

“No! I love him! I just needed you to hate him so that I could take him. I knew that he was started to notice you. I don’t know why. But now, you’ve ruined everything! But you know what? Everyone knows about you and him now.” Taylor pulled out what she was holding behind her back. It was her cell phone. She held it up so that Lanna could see what was on the screen. The words: forward to everyone on number file. Taylor had been recording everything science Lanna had come home. Taylor has almost every 8th graders’ number. Suddenly, Taylor clicked the send button. Now everyone had that recording.

I hope you have a good time at school on Monday. I don’t expect to see you at the school again after Monday or around Danny ever again.” Taylor smiled the most wicked and hateful smile that Lanna had ever seen. Lanna couldn’t take it anymore.

*BANG!*

Lanna slammed Taylor into her bedroom wall. She grabbed the cell phone from Taylor’s hands and she broke it in half. The boys stared at her in awe.

“Get out of my house you mother f*****g traitor!” Lanna grabbed Taylor by the arm and started dragging her to the door. Then she was out of the house but still in the doorway.

“Oh honey, you need to choose your friends more wisely. I’m not a traitor. You’re just dumb enough to believe my amazing act.” Taylor smirked and walked away with swagger.

“I don’t ever want to see your dirty face again! And even though you’ve ruined a small portion of my life, I have my three brothers to help me through it and create a better part of my life. Don’t think you’ve won anything. You don’t have what I do because you’re the one that doesn’t deserve it. So bye honey xoxo!” Lanna screamed after Taylor.

Lanna slammed her door shut and plopped on the couch again. Then she tipped over and lay on her side. The boys haven’t talked in a while. But Lanna didn’t care at the moment. She was so tired, confused, angry, and just plain pissed; she just wanted to sleep it off. So, that’s what she did.
                                   Two Hours Later

“I think that it might be okay for her.”

“Um…I still don’t feel for it…”

Lanna opened her eyes and rubbed them. She was still on the couch but she had a blanket on herself. No one was in the living room with her. Lanna got up and walked to the kitchen. Neer and Nate were in there. They looked at Lanna and smiled.

“So? Where’s the stupid one?” Lanna asked jokingly.

“I’m pretty sure he went to go punch a few brick walls. Blowing off steam.” Nate answered.

“Danny’s mother said that after a week, and I don’t like it there, I can move back here.” Lanna remembered that she’d forgotten to mention that earlier.

“Lanna! You airhead! Why didn’t you say that before?!?” Neer snapped.

“I forgot that’s why. Calm down. Jeez. You’d think that I’d forgot that there was a bomb ticking in the house.” Lanna answered. Her head hurt from the yelling earlier. That’s the most she’s yelled in a while. She didn’t need anymore of that.

“We thought you were going to stay there forever! We wouldn’t be able to sleep over anymore.” Nate frowned.

*Bang*

Lanna looked at the door. Obviously it was K.C.

“Lanna, don’t go. Please!” K.C. walked up to her. “We might not get to see you a lot-“

“You idiot. If you didn’t go off somewhere, then you would know that Lanna only has to stay there for a week. If she doesn’t like it, she can move back here.” Nate said.

“What? Oh my f*****g good grief. Why am I the last to know?” K.C. looked like he was going to punch something.

“Because you ding-dong! I forgot!” Lanna was tired of everything. “Please, I’m too tired for this. I have to pack for tomorrow. Just please, stop screaming.” Lanna walked out of the kitchen and into her room.

“Nice going d********g.” Neer said to K.C.

“You shut the f**k up. I…didn’t mean to.” He replied.

“That’s enough. Lanna probably had a splitting headache. She’s going threw a lot. She doesn’t need us fighting to add on.” Nate sighed and went into the living room and turned on the radio.

“Yeah, well, whatever.” K.C. muttered
    The Next Morning

When Lanna woke up, she heard nothing, and for her, that’s really strange.

“Did they get mad at me and leave???” Lanna asked herself. “I hope not.” She got up and went to the living room.

*Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo doom, just dance!* Just dance, Lady Gaga.

“It’s about time you woke up.” said Neer.

“Neer made you breakfast. You’re lucky I didn’t.” K.C. said as he handed her a plate of food.

“Oh, I’m…s-sorry about…yesterday.” He whispered.

“It’s alright K.C. It was a lot to handle. I’d probably do the same thing if I was you. Well, except for the punching brick walls part.” She said smiling.

“Well, I guess you should start packing.” Nate said.

“Um…yeah” Lanna took the plate from K.C. and put a piece of toast in her mouth. Then, she went into her room. The boys followed in awkward silence.

“So…do you think that Danny’s mother would let us sleep over sometimes?” Nate asked.

“She’s such a nice person. Not to mention beautiful. I’m sure she would.” Lanna replied. “I think, I might like staying there.” As the words came out, Lanna could feel the stares from her friends.

“Well, if that’s what you want then, that’s what I want for you.” Neer said. The other two boys nodded in agreement.

“Thanks” Lanna said. She looked in her closest and starting putting things into her suitcase.

*Knock, knock*

Lanna stopped packing and ran to the door. She knew who it was already. She opened the door.

“Hey Lanna, what’s up? Are you ready to get going?” Danny asked her.

“Not exactly” Lanna replied. ”Where’s Hanna?”

“She’s busy. I’ll help you pack. We should get going soon,” he said.

“Um…”

“Well hi. How’s it going Danny?”

“Yeah, what’s up?”

“So, how’s life?”

It was the boys. Once again!

“Oh, hi. I’m sure you’ve heard about me and Lanna already?” Danny smirked as he said that.

“Yeah, first rule, it’s not “me and Lanna”. It’s just me. No one really cares about you.” Lanna said to Danny. “And you three go get my bags please. You’re all helping me pack.” Lanna shut the door and went into her room.

“Damn, who pissed in her coffee this morning?” K.C. asked sarcastically.

“Well, let’s get to work.” said Danny.
                                 Half an Hour Later

“We’ll see you soon Lanna1” Neer said as he walked away.

“You’re the only one I’ll ever shake it with baby. And Danny, don’t touch her or your hands will be fed to dogs.” K.C. said as he walked away. He turned around and did the “I’m watching you” finger thing. Lanna smiled.

“I know that we’ll see each other in a bit but I’ll always think about you. I’m your big brother forever.” Nate said. He walked away slowly.

“Let’s go.” Danny said

“Alright” Lanna replied.
                     At Danny’s/Lanna’s house

“Welcome to your new home darling!” As soon as Lanna opened the door, Hanna busted out and hugged her.

“Uh… thanks.” Lanna went into the house and a little boy blocked her way. He looked a lot like Danny.

“Oh, hi, I’m Lanna. I’ll be staying here from now on.” Lanna smiled.

The boy didn’t even blink.

“Is this thing supposed to be living with us?” The boy made a vomit sound and ran up the stairs.

“Don’t mind him.” Danny said. “Come on, I’ll show you to your room.”

“I’m…grateful for your…hospitality.” Lanna said when she got to the room.

“Yeah, but don’t blame me if something happens at school.” said Danny.

“Oh no, It’s definitely not going to be your fault.” Lanna said, remembering about Taylor.

“Well, I hope you like being here.” Danny rubbed the top of her head and left.

“Well, You Never Know.” Lanna whispered.
