A Time Before

A Time Before

A Poem by Faith Almazan

You felt different in June,
your eyes looked different too.
The smells were all brand new.
We fell in love too soon.

Let's go back in time,
before I'd even rhyme
about you being mine
before we sent the signs.

But is that even a thing?
A time before you heard be sing?
A time before you held my hand?
A time before you would stand
on the escalator step below
so I could wrap my arms around your neck.
A time before you would show
your love for me
with your left hand?

It's nice for me to look back
and live in the time we fell in love.
There was no time before you.
You're my beginning, my end, my all.
