Truthful Liar

Truthful Liar

A Poem by Faith Almazan

Trees all around,
Sounds of the occasional twig breaking.
Chirping new born birds
and their tunes echoing through the green.

We're hidden underneath.
The sun can't even see us.
But we liked it that way
because we kept each other warm.

We were lost in the thought of love.

Eventually you found the warmth of the sun again
and set out on that trail without me.

I stayed in the shade,
I'm happy here.

This never being real begins to haunt me.
