Autumn AshA Poem by lightningoddessAbout a year back on the anniversary of 9/11 I decided to write a poem in honor of the people who died, and for the people who witnessed the event firsthand.Autumn ash trails thru the sky, overhead a plane flys by. Suddenly a crash, a ball of flame now this is war, its not a game. People screaming, running around: a baby screeches from the sound. Men and women run for cover, someone tries to call their lover. Phones are dead, off the hook, no one dares to take a look: people cry for their lost friends, they will pay, there will be no amends. A second plane dives from up above, Firefighters dance amid the flames, Oh how the mourners cry their names. There will be no sleep on this night, our soldiers will be fighting the good fight. © 2011 lightningoddessAuthor's Note
