Autumn Ash

Autumn Ash

A Poem by lightningoddess
"

About a year back on the anniversary of 9/11 I decided to write a poem in honor of the people who died, and for the people who witnessed the event firsthand.

"

Autumn ash trails thru the sky,

overhead a plane flys by.

Suddenly a crash, a ball of flame

now this is war, its not a game.

People screaming, running around:

a baby screeches from the sound.

Men and women run for cover,

someone tries to call their lover.

Phones are dead, off the hook,

no one dares to take a look:

people cry for their lost friends,

they will pay, there will be no amends.

A second plane dives from up above,
does this country have no more love?
Teachers shield the children's eyes,
in the distance a preacher cries.

Firefighters dance amid the flames,

Oh how the mourners cry their names.

There will be no sleep on this night,

our soldiers will be fighting the good fight.

I really enjoyed this poem, It has a great rhythm to it while I was reading it. It was also very descriptive :)
