I was desperate to write something tonight and I ended up with...poetry? Mind you, it's been years since I messed with that genre, and I tend to bend the rules to it anyway so...it is what it is.
Take a look through my eyes... Not the floor, nor the ground, nor the sky, You're not even looking, don't try to lie. I'm directly in front of you, But your glances are askew, Taking the time to admire your shoe. They're the eyes of hazel, Much like baked beans with dashes of basil, Would you know? How would you be able, Because to make full-fledged eye contact, Is not just an act Of what we lack Of knowing someone. Many say you need to try walking in someone else's boots, Yet when they are talking you don't see their eyes that are roots, Of their lives, their experiences, grown into a world of their own, Which you could tap into if you simply would hone, your eyes to theirs... We compare gazing into someone's eyes as romantic, or galactic, But when has gazing ever been pragmatic? Instead let's make this emphatic, That we need to see others for who they are. So as I overemphasize, Let's try to reprise, Take a look through my eyes...
Honestly, I've always seen eyes as a powerful medium of defining a person, and yet, I have an unbearable time keeping eye contact with people. Maybe it's just me. But I do think it's harder to understand people without making that connection.

For some reason I imagine this would be fantastic at an open mic night type of thing, or maybe even a poetry slam event. I really like this and I can totally see it happening. I'd encourage you to think about doing it.
Overall, very nicely done. Vivid and full of relatable moments; people do find it a bit off putting staring into other people's eyes but I like to think of eyes as being a window into people's souls. Thanks for allowing me to read and rate buddy x
I don't think it's just the lack of eye contact that makes it more difficult, it's all of the body and facial movements that are associated with body language. When you talk to a stranger on the phone for the first time and are expected to get along, let's say two college students having to work on a project together and this is their first time speaking to eachother, it's very difficult. Yet the same situation in person allows for all the pieces to be communicated and a stronger understanding of eachother passed back and forth. Eye's alone have a romantic aspect that plays a role in certain types of situations. But those situations are a small piece in everyday life. In most cases, I'd much rather have a person in front of me, than not at all, but i''ll be paying attention to more than just the eyes, and will avoid solid eye contact because many people find that intimidating.
