Call of Connecticut

Call of Connecticut

A Poem by EdenHarper
"

this is a poem trying to capture some of the feelings of all those affected by the Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school. and in the end, calling for courage.

"
Cold kiss, pale hands-
              mind wondering to other lands

Heavy feet and blurry eyes-
               at their joys sudden demise

...Carry on now- carry on
though the sun seems forever gone...

Silent words, tight throat-
Donning grief now like a coat

Shaking knees, heart in pieces-
Foreheads now made up of creases

...Carry on now- carry on
                     After darkness comes the dawn...

Thank you so much. I am from Sandy Hook, CT, and I knew some of the victims of that day. This poem is beautiful, and it's very true- after the darkness of the tragedy here truly came a dawn of a new day.
