I drank a coffee today

I drank a coffee today

A Poem by LVW

I drank a coffee today
Even though mils away
A child lost there mom today
An innocent woman became prey
A man died of hunger on the subway
A 100 days sober lost his way
The soup kitchen has an empty tray
A father died in war far away
A20 car pile up on the highway
And many countries yelling doomsday
Another man overdoses in the doorway
A plane crashes into a runway
Another corpse found in a stareway
I drank a coffee today....

thank you so much. I truly appreciate it.
LVW,
And so it has always been, sickness, death and destruction is the fate of mankind, and without the respites afforded by simple pleasures and private cocoons for temporary escape, why would we want to go on? Each of us follow the path we are on, some with every advantage, some with every obstacle. Some of us lend our hands some do not, the trick is to get to the end of things without a great load of guilt ether real or imagined...

hallo Vol. thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. its greatly appreciated.
Even when whispered your words could speak to the multitudes, It's not what we have that matters but what others do not have. Past, present and future said, say and will speak across raped life, nations and souls. The norm becomes normal as we sip and primp for nothing better to do.

But, your words and heart emote to the point of silence, LVW.

Smiling gently..
An ordinary day would be a coffee day.... on the other hand all the others are virtual catastrophes....
and you portrayed them very well... there are extremes to our daily living... some are good and many are horrible, more like a nightmare.... well written and a good point....

A heart wrenching poem where the poet puts the events between having a coffee and an array of life events into focus for the reader. A very insightful, thought provoking write, excellently depicted. Well inked, LVW! Great write! Kudos well deserved! Thank you for sharing...

Most welcome always, LVW...
you put everything into perspectives between a coffee time today, there is a lot in this world going on, every moment, every second and you captured the pain parts of it wonderfully well. every line is thought provoking here and it reminds us there's so much lost everyday. thanks for sharing your thoughts in a finely written poem. glad to read it!

thank you so much for your kind words and your comment on my post
This for some reason reminded me of the Beatles "A day in the life" How callous we have become that we hear all these things and they are common on the news. We hardly give any notice to them. Well written with it bringing on an emotion of sadness and outrage.
