Bedlam

Bedlam

A Poem by Lady of the Lake
"

A gothic poem about madness

"

Oh Bedlam, how lovely you are!
Your white walls greet me
With the softest touch,
Your silence whispers
“I’ve missed you so much!”

I see rats - my only friends
And I lie next to them on bed
Dreadful wails reach my ears
And I pretend I’m dead.

A girl sells soul for a penny,
In this asylum once a monastery
My bed turns into a sepulchre
And becomes my sanctuary.

The screams die down
Air cold as ice
Is this my delirium?
Or I’m I just drunk on the milk of paradise?
