A New Day Promises This

A New Day Promises This

A Poem by ~*lisa*~

Butterflies in stomach
Old sores re-opened
Everything went smashingly
Worried about nothing

Children hanging together
Laughter filling the room
A good time at last
Much overdue

Feeling of pride as he walks
Remembering my own experience
Feeling a slight form of pity
Knowing the fast forward button has already been pushed

Good Intentions
Alcohol and no listening
Misunderstandings
Makes me not want to talk

Past Hurts Resurfacing
Feeling Helpless
Can only Watch
Because no one is listening

Pretending now
Let’s go swimming
A good time?
No, it’s raining.

Chill Now
Let your brain go away
Thrice the movie,
Still nothing to say.

Fishing and Smoking
The air is still thick
The drive home, pleasant
Talking about the future

Another moment to put behind us
Another one to file away and forget
Back to reality and future things to come
A new day that promises this.
