Oh How She Shines

Oh How She Shines

A Poem by librarycat
"

An ode to all the women in the world who dedicate themselves to the arts and the divine femininity that keeps the world spinning.

"

In the world's darkest times,

Femininity, she shines

In a world full of hate,

She persists to create.

With just a pile of cloth,

She spends her time sewing,

Priceless fashion for the future,

Without even knowing.

With her delicate hands,

She sculpts the clay,

Making pottery to be handed down

Through her family somedday.

With the brush of paint,

She produces an image,

Hoping someone will see it

And understand the message.

For these women were shunned

For learning to read or write.

What a twisted way to

Make women dim their light.

Told to be quiet,

To be a good wife.

So they took up the arts

To bring feelings to life.

For a world without women,

The flame would extinguish.

The beauty of life gone,

Leaving men to relinquish.

But men only acknowledge

Our ability to carry,

To carry their babies,

They will one day have to bury.

For the men remain driven,

To make up for what they lack,

Stripping birthrights from the legislature,

To punish the women back.

Oh how she shines,

In the rubble of devastation.

Bits and pieces of femininity,

Could rejoice the nation.

Too bad the world crumbles,

Falling in on itself.

If only they believed in

The ability of women like myself.
