Oblivious Keeper

Oblivious Keeper

A Poem by HMK Bomar

Keeper of my heart
You taunt me
Unknowingly, dear.

I gave you my heart
Then I walked away
Two years have passed and no one
Not a single one
Has filled the space I evicted you from

I used my head to walk away from you
We weren't meant for each other!
You were just a skater boy.

I had to make myself available
For some successful, driven, wine-and-dine
gentleman
I thought I was destined for better

I was destined for loneliness.

Boy after boy after boy
Fell like dominos in comparison to what we had!
Now, look at you.

Every little characteristic I nit-picked
Gone.
SO attractive funny charismatic
Everything you were before, brightened
You are today, the very man I left you for

And my heart, still in your oblivious possession
Is calling me back
Calling this hypocritical, stuck up, unworthy girl
Back to you

Thumpthump
Thump
But that heart.
Can you hear it?
