Arms of the Father

Arms of the Father

A Poem by josh lawdermilt
"

A poem about God's love for us.

"

Broken lives and broken hearts
Scattered piece by piece
Shattered there…standing here
For you to come and see.

You say “Come, my child, let me look.”
You gaze down deep in me
With a gentle kindness in your voice:
“Life is harder than it seems.”

You take our bodies and our hearts
 All that was broken
You piece together every part
To make them whole again.

When the tears fill and fall from my eyes
When I’m longing to give in
I come to you, you let me cry
Then lift me up again.

Walking through the valley of the dark
When we don’t know what to do
You whisper comfort to our hearts
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here with you…”

And when the dark surrounds
When all our hope is gone
You bring us hope with whispered words
“Just wait until the dawn.”

And when our time on earth is done
 Our final breath is through
You wrap us in your arms and say
“It is so good to see you…”
