Fatherless

Fatherless

A Poem by Libby McKeown
"

Tribute for my high school math teacher.

"

Fatherless

grandmother

made so

in a year.

A barefoot

fisherwoman

proclaiming

the message

of the hopeless

god Trig.

The sometimes

sullen giver

of second chances.

for this,

I, the unbeliever,

thank you.

For Ms. Henry

Libby honestly this piece explodes in imagery. However, acknowledging the caring and loving heart of Ms. Henry in this artistic expression is delfightfully moving. Your piece has taken me back to my village where I grew up on the island of Domininca. Well done!

Best regards,
Vincent

I'm glad you wrote this tribute to her. Sometimes it's hard to find a teacher who's really good at what he or she does, but when you're lucky enough to have one, you can't thank him or her enough! I agree with Vincent--there are a lot of images that come to mind when I read this.
