American Idol

American Idol

A Poem by Libby McKeown

The only thing I have to show for 30
is this poem.

I tucked my dreams away;
revisting them during commercial breaks,
and during my drives to work
(I turned the radio up up UP)
and while I was brushing my hair
which I never do enough of.
And yeah,
I ended that with a preposition
so what!

I'm still a rebel,
and I still have enough time
for dreams

Oh wait!  American Idol is on!

It's still on - selling dreams to a select few and rubbing faces in the debris of wished-it-could-have-been.

In total agreement with RSalassi.

You somehow make this vapid, empty-headed creature so appealing. Another delightful read. Thanks.

If you are only 30. You have a lot of time to raise some cane. A interesting tale in the poem. American Idol came and saved the night of the rebel. Need to stand strong always. Too many people want to control us. Good to be a rebel. A excellent poem.

I enjoyed this much. just one nit to pick:

proposition- should be preposition. A fun read, nonetheless. Z
