Ice cream for one

Ice cream for one

A Poem by Lianne
"

Part of my happiness used to come from sharing similarities as well as differences with my other half. One day I came home, and my other half was gone.

"

as sweet as dreams go

I close my eyes

and I see you and I

hand in hand

connected

physically

and spiritually

we exchange smiles

not a word spoken

we look ahead

continuing our gaze at the cherry blossom tree

our cherry blossom tree

majestic it has become after years of our continuous nurture

beautiful it is

we let out breaths of awe

like it was our first time

by the bench we sit

ice cream for two on a beautiful spring's day

I open my eyes

reality grabs me hard by my shoulders

shakes me awake

throws me back and forth

and sinks me into its core

I open my eyes and it is in fact ice cream for one

ice cream for one never tasted this unappetizing

the cherry blossom tree now only exists in my memory

now

I have more time

but I have less energy

oddly enough

sacrificing gave me strength

and now I'm weak

Good flow of thought. Easy to read and to understand. I like how you repeat words or phrases for emphasis. Job well done.

Thank you, I appreciate that!
Very nice, the character in the poem is eating ice cream and is it closes its eyes feeds the soul.
