A Proud Life

This city will never change,

this city will always be the same.

In my mind, through the times,

these people will just lead their lives.

Not that rich, but not completely poor,

as long as the sky is grey, the kids will carry on playing football.

As the same lives cross on the same narrow road,

for a brief second a smile is shown between two people who are.

In this city that will never change,

that will remain the same.

As you walk along the road where millions of bricks stand tall,

connected together, they’re hard to make flat on the floor.

Although in my mind, somewhere it lies the reality of these walls,

that they will fall flat to the ground.

Like the lives we lead, we won’t stand forever,

a fact that will never change.

I don’t mind my final outcome,

because deep inside me I can rest assured.

There’s another generation on its way,

keeping the voice loud and proud.

That is why for me this city will never change,

forever remaining the same.
