Chartless

Chartless

A Poem by Ranse Sullivan

The body wants what the body needs

At least that's what I was always told

When I was young, growing up, and now am old

But then the heart and mind, confused with ego seem always to make

A fool where one did not exist

Confused, asleep, and awake

And then the body stumbles off and loses value and time, a muddled goal

Like sailing ships on stormy nights, against the shoals so long ago
