Day DreamA Poem by Patriciaspring time
Day Dream
hazy heat rises in steaming waves
in front of the window,
the window to that other world
Where the children play
And laughed today at a joke that
No one else can understand-
And the sun rises low above the clouds
To wave hello and send it’s
Friendly rays to greet the distant stars.
The stars who live up in their
Blanket of ever-present black
The pinholes of light in
The land of darkness
With the power to overcome;
And the pretty pictures they make
that represent the number three?
zapped back again to class
to try once more to pay attention
to a lesson you’ve already forgotten
when the class drones on and on
the world dims dark and
the images of your reality blur
together in a valiant effort
to write a poem.
