Eva The Journey Beyond Chapter one

Eva The Journey Beyond Chapter one

A Story by Lora

It was a dark and drafty night in the lush hills of Ireland. Eva decided to take a walk to clear her mind. She had just lost her family in a tragic accident. Eva started feeling meaningless inside. As she walked on, she kept thinking about everything she had lost and how swift all that she had known was gone. She was walking past the old enervated abbey when she heard a muffled chant in the wind. Her curiosity began to stir. It sounded as if the mantra was calling to her. Eva became spellbound and it felt as if she the wind was carrying her to the abbey. When she reached the entrance to the abbey, she saw the silhouette of mystical creatures dancing in circles around a fire. They were fairies chanting in a strange yet familiar language. Eva was fascinated with the magical creatures and the way they made the fire dance. She could not help but watch in admiration. Never once did she stop to think that there could be such a magnificent being so close to home.

She did not want to disturb them, unfortunately, when she turned to walk away, she stepped on a shroud of glass from one of the broken windows. The fairies where frightened by the sound. Eva did not know what to do, the pixies looked upon her and suddenly she saw a bright light drawing upon her, a feeling of consternation had fallen upon her. Were they upset that she interrupted the ceremony that was commencing? Finally, the vivid light had reached her as the luminosity was fading she saw a picturesque fairy with milky white skin, long curly blonde hair accented her face, which was childlike with deep blue eyes. She was wearing a long white silky gown with black lace trim around the train and wrists of the dress. Eva began to ask for her forgiveness.

“Please forgive me for interrupting your ceremony,” said Eva.

“Do not apologize, we have been calling to you. My name is Dana, and these are my people, the Tuatha De Danann race,” replied Dana.

Eva responded, “Hello Dana and Tuatha De Danann, may I ask as to why you are calling out to a unadorned individual such as myself?”

“For many centuries my people have ruled over these lands, we have protected and nurtured these lush hills and now we are in danger from the Milesian tribe, a cousin race to the Celts, we need your patronage.” Said Dana.

“I am mystified as to how I may assist in your time of need. I am but a peasant woman who has just lost all that she had.”

“Take a trip with me to Fairyland, our parallel realm; there I will enlighten you as to why we called out to you.”
Therefore, Eva decided to take the journey to Fairyland so she took Dana, the fairy goddess, to her cottage. Then they made sure all the windows and doors where secure so that no one would disturb them on their journey. Eva could not understand why they had to make sure all of the doors and windows where secure from the inside when they where going to be gone. Dana explained to her that in order to get to Fairyland she had to be in an altered state and she had to be where no one could disturb her body. Or else she would not be able to finish the quest and Dana’s people would face terrible consequences. Dana continued by telling Eva to sit upright in a comfortable position. When Eva was comfortable,

Dana told her to close her eyes but not to fall asleep or she would be more vulnerable to the malicious faeries of the outer realm of conciseness. Therefore, Eva did as instructed and Dana handed Eva a small cloth bag. Eva asked what it was and Dana said that they where herbs that would protect her in her altered state. Dana said no more talking; just breathe deep while I walk you through your journey. Dana began by saying that Eva must stay on the path, which I will guide you on, for there are malevolent faeries that will try to seduce you to keep you in the outer realm. Eva said I would do as directed by you. If at anytime you feel threatened or stray away from the path just say my name and I will be there.

When we get to the end of the path I will explain everything to you then I will introduce to the fairy queen and king, from there you are free to do what you feel is necessary. Therefore, Dana started the incantation of protection and continued with asking the god for approval. When she received approval from her god, she continued on the ritual to carry Eva’s spiritual body to the astral realm. As Dana carries on Eva feels like she is flying when she opens her eyes she realizes that she is looking at her physical body sitting there in tranquility. Dana then takes her hand and they go on with their journey.

For the first time, Eva felt at peace with herself and she begins to smile as they journeyed over the hills of Ireland. All of a sudden, she notices a new world; it is bright the fields are green with many different shapes of inky cap mushroom’s and wondrous colors of spring flowers. The moon was full and a bright blue. It was so bright it light up the hills with such awe. Eva gazed in admiration at this new world. Fairy land was very vivacious and exciting. Eva fell in love with it right away. In the splendor of this new world Eva had forgot that she was there for a reason and Dana could see that by the way she was looking at the grandeur of the fairy realm. Therefore, Dana gently tugged on her hand and Eva looked and nodded to Dana. As to let Dana know that, she remembered.

Finally, they came to the path that Dana spoke of during the incantations. Therefore, they gently descended to the path. They began to walk through the fascinating land. Moreover, Dana began to tell Eva about her secret past. She was about to discover who she really was. “Long ago there was a mortal woman, named Adalia, which took this same journey. However, it was not for the benefit of my people, Adalia was well know in the fairy realm because she enjoyed our company and offered us crops for our Samhain celebration. One day our best warrior, named Nibs realized that he had fallen in love with her. In an attempt to keep her to himself, he guided her to this realm just as I have just done with you then he bewitched her. I can still view the moment when he made love to her, it was very passionate and she fell in love with him almost immediately. At that very moment, a child was conceived. He managed to hide her for nine months, but when it was time to deliver that child, he could hide her no longer.

Once the queen and king found out about this malicious act, they called for Nibs and Adalia. When they arrived to the castle they where told that their punishment was to be exiled and the child would be taken away and placed on the outer realm with a trustworthy family until it was time for her to fulfill her destiny. When the couple had learned about their fate, they could not bear it. Your mother died of a broken heart and your father wonders around aimlessly because he lost everything that he had loved.

Know that you know about your past I will tell you why we called you here. Nibs was the greatest warrior that our tribe had. Now that we are in battle, we need him more than ever. The queen has asked me to bring you here to find him and bring him back.”

Eva was bewildered by what she just heard. ”Is that why I always felt there was something missing and I was misplaced.”

“Yes, but your outer realm parents where spellbound to make them believe you where their child.” Said Dana.

At that point, Eva was so overwhelmed she started crying and she decided to run off. Dana wanted to give her some time to absorb everything she just told her. She decided to report to the queen and king everything that had happened. After the king and queen had heard of all that was going on they ordered the guards to look for her because there was no time to waste. The Milesean army was defeating the Tuatha De Dannan armies rapidly. Therefore, the guards set out to find Eva.

Meanwhile Eva was sitting under a tree crying, thinking of the family that she knew and how Dana’s people had deceived her by not letting her be with her real family. While she sat there a handsome fairy named Fir was fluttering by. He heard her crying and stopped to ask her what was wrong. “I am a stranger in a strange land, but yet I was born here.” Fir looked at her confused. Eva said “it is a long and tortures story, I wish not to repeat. So Fir shrugged his shoulders and introduced himself “My name is Fir I am part of the Red Cap tribe.”

“My name is Eva and I don’t know who or what tribe I am from. Everything is so confusing right now.” After she introduced herself, Fir asked her to take a walk with him. Eva agreed as she wiped away her tears.

Therefore, they started walking, as they walked Eva stopped to take in the smell and beauty of all the trees, shrubs and flowers. She fascinated Fir, she seemed so innocent and pure but he sensed that there was something mischievous about her. He could not figure it out. In that his curiosity grew stronger. Therefore, he decided to ask her why she was so distressed. Eva had told him the story that Dana had told her.

Fir was very familiar with that legend, but he thought it to be a myth. When he thought about it he felt that this could be his chance to become well known among all faeries. So he told her that he would not let her out of his sight so that he knew she was protected for the sake of the Tuatha De Dannan tribe. Eva was flattered by his commitment not knowing of his true intentions. So she said “I will be forever in your debt” Not thinking, she had just given him her will.

About that time, Fir had realized that sunset was approaching. So he told Eva that she could stay at his cottage for the night. Eva was delighted to know she did not have to sleep outside since she did not know what could happen. So they traveled to his cottage and set in for the night. Eva was so distraught that she could not sleep. Fir knew that Eva would need her rest if they where to journey to find her father the next day so he started chanting. A slow quite rhythmic chant put Eva to sleep.

When morning arrived, Fir woke up Eva and told her to get ready to go. She asked where they where going and he said that they had to find her father so that they can get him back to the castle. Eva said, “Why should I help the ones that have deceived me and deprived me of my family?”

“If they did it then they can do it again so we need to help them so that we can carry on with our life together.” Said Fir.

Eva was confused, “What do you mean our life together?”

“I mean you and I together, but if the guards find you before we find your father we will be separated.” Fir replied.

“But I thought Mortals and Fairies could not be!”

“That is so but you are not completely mortal you are special.”

“While we are searching for your father we can get to know each other.”

About that time, the Milesean captain had learned of Eva’s quest to find the great warrior Nib. He knew he had to stop her or else face possible defeat. He had sent his spies to find Georgia before the kings guards did. Meanwhile, Eva and Fir had set of on their revered adventure. It sounded like an easy quest to partake to Eva. Fir knew that it would be long and perilous; he knew that if the captain of the Malesian army found out about Eva they would be in great danger. However, he remained faithful to his word to watch over her. He decided to stay in the shadows so not to attract attention to Eva. While they where walking Eva asked Fir “So what am I to learn about you on our journey?”

Fir started out with the basic. “Well, You already know I am a red cap fairy”

Eva said, “Yes, carry on.”

“Okay, I love to fly around and watch other faeries going about their busy lives. That is what I was doing when I saw you under that old tree. And I am very pleased to have found you If anyone else would have found you they would have surely taken advantage of you.” Eva felt relieved to hear that. It made her suspect that she was among good company.

Fir asked Eva what she liked to do in her spare time. Eva said, “I am a lover of nature, just as you fly around to view all of your fellow fairies I enjoy walking around trying to find new flowers or trees or shrubs that I have never seen before. It seems to put my mind at ease.” Along their journey, they came across an elf. He was an odd little creature, nothing like she had imagined them to be. He was short with little ears that came to a point but he was not childlike at all. He had beady black eyes with green pupils, a nose that came to a point with small nostrils and his teeth were hideously yellow, well the ones that he had. When Eva saw him she was terrified, Fir told her not to worry because that is how all fairies appeared in the fairy land. He also added that they are shape shifters so they can make themselves look different to the outside world. .When they got closer to the elf, Fir nodded his head as to say hello. The elf stopped them and introduced himself, “hello, my name is Tova.”

“Hello Tova, my name is Eva and this is Fir.”

“Nice to make your acquaintance” Said Tova.

“What brings you here, to fairy land?”

Eva started to say that she was here on a guest but Fir interrupted her.

“She is just wondering through to look at all of the magnificent effects of our world.” Then Fir gently pushed Eva along and they told Tova farewell. So they carried on with their quest. When Tova was out of sight, she asked Fir why he interrupted her. Fir explained that if the captain of the Malesian army found her she would be in danger. Because he would stop at nothing to take over the Irish land that the Tuatha De Dannan tribe possessed. Then she asked him what that had to do with her.

“You are here to find the one fairy that can defeat him.” Fir said. Eva looked at him and he could see the fear in her eyes. He reminded her that he will protect her will all that he had. Therefore, they carried on and came across a tavern. Fir told her that they would go in and ask about your father. You must not talk to anyone, fairies and elves tend to be malicious creatures that will probe into your thoughts and use those thoughts to manipulate you. I will do all the talking. Then they walked into the tavern.

Now the tavern was filled with elves, fairies, gnomes and centaurs all dancing, laughing, drinking and making merriment while Celtic music was playing in the background. When they got up to the bar, Fir asked the bar tender if he knew where he could find the great warrior nibs. The bartender laughed and said that run down old fairy. He is of no use to anyone anymore. Eva got upset when she heard the bartender talk about her father that way and she said, “Nibs provided protection for all of you, how dare you berate him in such a way. It is better to be known as a warrior that saved many than a bartender that helped was away dreams.” The bartender was not amused by her comment and he told Fir, “Well this bartender is going to wash away someone else’s dream.” Moreover, he walked away.

Fir then told Eva she could not expect anyone to help if she could not keep her mouth shut. Eva apologized for her mistake. After she apologized another fairy that was sitting at the bar said, “Why do you seek this fairy warrior?” Fir told him that they had particularly imperative business with him. Then the fairy looked up and replied, “You don’t look like the type Nibs would associate with.” That caught Firs attention so he sat down next to the fairy. “What is your name?” The fairy said he did not need a name because he was insignificant to the people he once struggled for. Fir did not push for a name he felt that this fairy was not worth knowing he just wanted to know where to find Nibs. Then he asked him, “If you say that we don’t look like acquaintances of Nibs, you must know where to find him?”

The fairy told them, “I can not give you the precise location of his whereabouts but I can lead you to where he may be.” Fir said well lets go we have no time to waste. So they all stood up from their barstools. When the nameless fairy stood up he fell to the ground. The fairy was not sober enough to start the journey. Therefore, it looked like Eva and Fir were going to stay at the tavern until morning. By that time, the fairy should be lucid enough to travel with them.

The next morning when Eva and Nibs woke up they found the nameless fairy on the floor glaring at the ceiling. “What is the matter?” asked Eva. He said “I have not been this somber for many centuries. Then Fir told him that he needed to stay clear-headed for this journey. So the nameless fairy stood up and said lets go then. Therefore, they set off on their journey once again.

While they were walking the nameless fairy asked Fir, “What kind of business would a young fairy such as you have with this old warrior?” Fir looked at Eva, who was walking a ahead of them smelling the flowers, and said, “It is not I that has dealings with him, it is her.”

“What could she want with this warrior? She is much to young for him. and it doesn’t seam that she needs any help with you around.”

“Yes, but I can not protect her from the dangers that she is faced with at present, only Nibs can protect her.”

“But why Nibs, why not one of the queens new warriors?”

“She has very deep regard for Nibs. He means more to her than her own being. She needs to find him so she can fill a great emptiness in her existence.”

After hearing this, the nameless fairy was quite. They walked all day. When the sun started setting the nameless fairy said that they must set up camp before it gets to dark. So they did, Fir pitched the tent then the nameless fairy started a fire. Eva sat on a nearby log watching them. After the fire was set and the tent was up the nameless fairy told them that he was going to catch dinner so that they would not be hungry for the journey the following day. He went down to a nearby creek It was placid and so clear you could see the fish swimming around in it. There he caught a few Opahs with a net he had in his camping gear He took the fish back to the camp and Eva gutted the fish so that they could cook them. After they ate, Fir started falling asleep. The nameless fairy saw his chance to find out what business Eva had with Nibs.

He sat down next to her and asked her if she was okay. She told him that she was just worried. He asked her why. Then she told him that she has a great deal to cope with that it was vital for her to find Nibs so he may take some of this burden. He then asked her what a young woman such as herself could have to burden. Eva started telling him that she needed to find him and bring him back to the queen and king because they needed him. About that time Fir had awakened. He called Eva over to him so that they could go to sleep. He put his arm around her so that he would wake up if she moved.

The nameless fairy went back down to the creek and started talking to a nearby tree. “What could this child mean to the queen and king? Why would they send her to find me when they have many warriors who could have found me right away? What is so special about this girl? Why am I more important to her than her own being? I need to find answers before they can know that I am Nibs.

As he was sitting there, an image flashed in his head. The Malesians were only a day’s journey from them. He could see them at the tavern asking about Eva. The bartender was not easy to give information freely. Everything had its price so he told them they would have to pay. One of the warriors grabbed him and asked him if the information was worth his life. Then the bartender told them that she was not alone she had another fairy helping her and they had left with Nibs. When they had found this out they sent a messenger to the captain of the Malesian army telling him that they had found Nibs and where traveling with him.

After the vision was gone Nibs ran back to the camp and woke Fir and Eva from their sleep. He told them that they needed to leave swiftly because the Malesians were near. So they hurried to bundle everything into the rucksacks that hey had. And set forth on their journey. Then the nameless fairy stopped them and said to carry on with this quest and find Nibs you must tell me what dealings you have with him. I will go no further until I know.

Eva looked at Fir fearing that they had lost their chance to find her father. When Fir saw the sadness in Eva’s eyes he decided to let her tell him. “If it will lead us to Nibs she will tell you.”

Eva had repeated everything that Dana had told her about Nibs and Adalia. And how she was is daughter. When the fairy started crying Fir and Eva were shocked. He took Eva in his arms and said I am sorry my child for what they have done to your family. Nibs did not want to tell her who he was yet because he wanted to have a chance to redeem his name and make her proud.

When the captain learned of this he was furious and he sent his greatest warrior out for Nibs. He told him that Nibs was very crafty so he would have to use his best tactics to destroy him. The warrior, named Silus, told him he would destroy this fairy that brought him great distress. Then he told Silus to bring the girl to him unharmed. Silus agreed and departed on his journey.

Back where Eva was, they had managed to gather all of their equipment and they moved on. Nibs had made up his mind to take them to the castle where they would be safe until he can achieve his quest for integrity. Thus, they traveled on. Nibs was beginning to get very tired and the sun was beginning to set once more. He told Eva and Fir that they need to find a cave where they could hide until sunrise. Therefore, they headed towards the mountains to find a cave; they finally found one uninhabited and Nibs started a fire. Fir told him that he would go out and find food this time and he did. He gathered some herbs and shrubs and returned to the cave. He took the left over fish from the night before and set up some sticks to cook them on over the fire. Then he took the shrubs, threw them on the fire to give it a better flavor, and wrapped them in the herb leaves. Eva was impressed that he was trying to accommodate her. Nibs was studying their body language and realized that there may be more there than just protection. He sensed love, understanding and faithfulness. Something he had once felt with Eva’s mother. He thought to himself that they must not be separated or Fir would fall under the same fate that he has endured all of these years

In the meantime, at the castle the king was becoming irritated that the guards could not find Eva so he called upon the goddess, Dana, to assist in the expedition. He asked her to use her premonition to find her location. Dana wanted to aid the king but she was unable to because Eva was a special breed of fairy. When the king heard this he asked Dana what was so special about her. Dana could not answer the question. She was unclear has to what her abilities where. Then Dana explained that if the Malesians where to find her they could use her to defeat everyone who stood in their way. At that moment, the king asked Dana if Eva knew of this. Dana said no, but she could find out at any moment. Eva was unaware of the fact that she was part fairy until she came to fairyland. Now she can stat channeling her powers if the right fairy was to guide her.

Not far from the castle, Nibs wanted Eva to know of her powers before he took them to the castle. In this he asked Eva if she knew of her abilities. Eva said that she was not aware that she had any. Then Nibs explained that she was part fairy so she had to have some abilities. So Nibs told her to sit in front of the fire and stare at it closely hesitating to blink very often. Therefore, she did, after awhile she said that it seemed like she was looking through one eye. Nibs told her to concentrate on that on eye. He said that was her third eye.

“All fairies, elves, gnomes and witches use this meditation to center themselves with the universe. Now I want you to use that eye to look deep into your soul. Once you get there you will be able to see your abilities unfold before you.” While she was looking deep into her soul, she began to float and a breeze slowly encircled her. Then a bright glow shone upon her face. Fir glared in awe at what was happening. At that point, Eva closed her eyes and began to smile. Eva was suspended for quite awhile then she opened her eyes and slowly descended to the ground. When she was settled, she looked at Nibs and said, “I understand why you did not want me to know the truth but now I know. You do not have to hide any longer. In addition, I finally understand why the queen and king had sent me away. From what I have just discovered we may journey to the castle, there we must assist the queen and king in their battle. Unfortunately you will not be able to oblige them in this conquest as they assume you can.”

Nibs looked at her and stretched out his arms; Eva ran to him and hugged him. Fir was confused. “Sorry to interrupt, but what is going on?” Eva and Nibs turned and looked at him. “I would like to introduce you to Nibs, my father.” Fir looked stunned, “why didn’t you just tell us that you were Nibs from the beginning?” Eva told him that he needed to understand why they were looking for him before he could reveal his identity. “I needed to deem myself worthy before I told her.” Nibs said. “So how long were you going to wait?’ Fir asked. “Eva needed to find herself to understand why I hid my identity. I wanted her to find out on her own but we are close to our destination so I had to show her how to find herself so that she knew the truth.” Nibs replied.

Then Eva informed them that their enemies where getting closer. Then she looked at Nibs and said, “There is a warrior named Silus on a mission to find and destroy you.” Nibs said that he was ready for him. Then Eva said that they needed to make it to the castle before the Malesians found them. Then she remembered what Dana had told her about calling her name when she needed her when they first started this journey. Hence, Eva closed her eyes and quietly called to Dana. Within a few seconds Dana appeared. When Dana saw Eva and Nibs together she asked, “Since you have found your father have you discovered what you really are?”

Eva nodded her head and Dana could see the twinkle in Eva’s eyes, which let her know that she knew the truth. Dana wasted no time, she told Eva to close her eyes and visualize that she has wings. So Eva did so and wings started to slowly emerge from her back. Dana told her that she would need to get acquainted with the feeling of flying so Dana grabbed Eva’s hand and told her to flail her wings and she would guide her. Fir and Nibs began soaring in the air and they set off towards the castle.

When they arrived at the castle, the Queen and king were waiting for them at the threshold. “We need to get you to battle quickly Nibs,” the king demanded. Eva said “No” we must prepare for this battle. Moreover, she carried on by telling the queen and king that The Malesian captain has sent their best warrior to destroy Nibs and take her to the Malesian camp. The king was astonished to hear this so he told Nibs that he would stay there to defeat this warrior then he will be sent to battle.

Eva did not agree with this. She said that when she was meditating she saw a vision of what was to come. At that moment, Dana told her that they needed to get some rest before they where to carry on with the conversation. Therefore, the Queen ordered her servants to assure that they were feed, bathed and shown their quarters. So they headed through the castle entrance. Then the king stopped Fir and asked, “Who is this and what business does he have with you?” Eva said that he had helped her find Nibs and he protected her on her journey. The king told him that he would be rewarded for his loyalty but he was no longer needed.

Nibs stopped him and said that he would not go to battle unless Fir was by his side. Therefore, the king granted it. Therefore they all went in the great hall and enjoyed a great feast afterwards they were escorted to their chambers for the night. As they were leaving; the king told his guards to watch over Eva’s room so no harm would befall on her. While Eva was getting ready to blow out the candle that illuminated her room when Dana appeared out of nowhere and told Eva, “You must let me know of your vision before you let the queen and king know.” Eva looked at her with confusion. Before Eva could say anything Dana put her finger over her lips and said that they were not lone so they had to go someplace private. Therefore, Dana took Eva by the arm and they disappeared.
