I Refuse to Move On

I Refuse to Move On

A Poem by lhawkins

I refuse to move on

for fear that I might forget.

I don’t want to find someone else

for fear that I lose your laugh.

I want to wallow in my sadness

for just a little longer

just until I can walk alone.

Only until I can put one foot before the next

and not see your smile

or hear your laugh.

All I need is to hear the first letter of your name

and my mind jumps to you.

Maybe,

if I keep us in mind,

then I can live in that reality forever.
