You're Gone

You're Gone

A Poem by lhawkins

You’re gone.

And your face is still all I see.

-----

I see you in the waves

How my love for you grew and grew

until it crashed down on my world

when you left me.

-----

I see you in nature

because our love was so alive

until I forgot to water that blossom

and our flower died.

-----

I see you in the sun.

The sun and its motion is reliable

and yet, so beautiful.

Now, my world lacks a sun

and I see nothing without you.

-----

I see you in the children.

I see our life in the children.

That we would have each other

through life and death

and our children would see

just how wonderful love is.

-----

I hear your voice and laugh in music.

I hear you in silence.

-----

I remember you in my veins

Every touch of yours I still remember

I am the sand and you are footprints.

You may leave and I may try

to was you away.

But there is no denying the fact

that you existed.

-----

I see you in the world around me

and without you,

because you’ve left me,

my senses grow even stronger.

-----

I see and hear you everywhere.

I love hearing the birds sing

but it’s not your voice

I love feeling the ocean

but it’s not your touch

I love seeing the sun rise

but it’s not your smile.

-----

I love the world

but what I loved most

was having you by my side
