Pure HappinessA Story by LexiA quick story I wrote about a boy that I used to be infatuated with. He's gone now, and this story will always be a reminder of what it used to be.I was lying on the grass. It was late- or early, one of those because I could feel the dewy grass against my back. It was dark and I had the perfect view of the moon and many stars from where I was lying. I let out a laugh, not sure why, because I couldn't hear anything in that moment. Just then, I heard music start faintly playing in the background. James Arthur. My favourite. It sounded far away, but really, it was closer than I thought. Right behind me as a matter of fact. I can't remember which song it was, but I remember smiling really big as the song started playing. I remember feeling someones hand grab mine, someone that I had no idea that was there until they touched my arm. I thought I was alone. I turn my head, and come face to face with a boy. A beautiful boy. My boy. My favourite boy. He lies there, right next to me, close next to me, smiling almost as big as I am. His smile that makes my heart skip a beat. He says something inaudible, but sits up after he says it. He takes one last long look at the stars before standing up and looking down at me. He pulls me up with him, and I look at him, confused. He only smiles, and leads me a few steps away from where we were just lying. He towers over me, as he is much taller than me. Still smiling, he wraps his arms around my waist, and pulls me closer. He begins to sway slowly. He's- he's dancing? Carefully, I rest my head on his chest and continue to sway, listening to him laugh. I hear his heartbeat, beating fast, like mine. I remember feeling pure happiness in this moment. He spins he spins me around and pulls our faces close together and connects our lips. I remember feeling my stomach erupting with butterflies. And at that exact moment, the sun starting rising, making this the perfect moment. He smiles into the kiss, and as if my heart already wasn't beating fast enough, it starts beating faster. He pulls away, and takes a step back. His face is flushed, and he runs his hand through his hair quickly. He takes another step, towards the car, and motions for me to follow. He grins at me as he pulls open the trunk of his car. Blankets and pillows are piled in the back. My stomach does a summersault. He picks up a blanket and throws it over my shoulders, and then pulls me to sit on the edge of the car. He sits next to me and shimmies under the blanket, and pulls me to lie under his arm. I lie snuggly next to him. Comfortable. We curl up next to each other in the back of the car, and watch the sunrise. I have never been happier. © 2023 LexiAuthor's Note
