pirates of neverland

pirates of neverland

A Poem by lexingtonvlair

walking through neverland
wondering where the lost boys have gone
walking through neverland
looking up for so long

trying to find my shadow
that darkness that should follow
why did it leave the burrow
and travel to the land of tomorrow

walking through neverland
with legs so tired
walking through neverland
with thoughts that cause fires

the pirates wait in the bay
thinking of michevious games to play
enticing the joys of fate
their sorrow grounds them these days

walking through neverland
with legs so tired
walking through neverland
wishing i could fly higher

my face covered in faery dust
how can this pain be just
when happy thoughts are a must
in this land of childhood lust

walking through neverland
no longer a boy
walking through neverland
without any of my toys

maybe if i find my shadow
that thing that was supposed to follow
maybe if i face the fellow
that turned my soul hollow

walking through neverland
trying to fly higher
walking through neverland
without any laughter

lovely, in its darkest sense. Love the way you've emphasised the idea of struggling and, i guess, the feeling of being anchored, whether it be emotionally or physically, by the repitition of "walking through the neverland". It is a wonderfully dark peice, which has, at this moment, inspired me to post one of my darker poems!

And thanks, btw, for the review...kind of a thrill to hear feedback from likeminded writers.
