Just a Boy

"He's just a boy" my friends would say

"not good enough for you"

I'd wipe my tears and nod my head,

but knew that was not the truth

To me, that boy was my sun

my world revolved around him

he'd keep me warm and light me up

even though he burned my skin

He was a smile, a laugh, a tear

a million thoughts in my mind 

to me he was not "just a boy"

but a love to leave behind

Your poems may be of simple theme.....but they end with a freaking bang that puts the cherry on top and packs the biggest punch. O - M - G! That ending, and Stanza 2 simply blew me away. Well done!

I tend to write with very simple sing-songy themes because my favorite part about poetry is how it sounds and feels when you read/hear it. I try to keep the content very personal and deep to contrast the simplistic, innocent nature of it - makes it more interesting :)

Personal always = interesting. And you pull off this contrast very nicely. Especially when you cap off with a bang that hurls readers ten yards back.
