Ugly

Ugly

A Poem by Lexi Richard

With pen and ink
I can turn
my pain to poetry
I can write
that what you did
was love not misery

I can lie
and say you loved
with kisses and never fists
I can say
my heart is fine
without bruises or slits

I can lie
that you were sweet
fluent with flattery
I can say
that I never ached
because of your cruelty

I can say
so many words
like tulips and daffodils
I can say
you had sugary words
even though they killed

very touching piece c: i can't relate (yet) but i think that a lot of people could easily say that this has great meaning to them. i love the first stanza/verse, "I can turn my pain to poetry" - that i can relate with easily, the only thing i do nowadays is write poetry about what's hurting me inside :) very beautiful poem. great job!
