Footprints

Footprints

A Poem by Lexie

I feel the soft, wet sand under my bare feet.
I look behind me
I see my footprints
I see my footprints from when I was small
I see were footprints are just lines from years of dragging on
I see the footprints were I was running
I see the hand prints from when I would fall
I see where a set of footprints intertwined mine
I see where those footprints veer away and intertwine with another
I now see my feet all wrinkled and gray
I see ahead of me where I know I cannot go on
I lay my head on the cold sand that's always carried my feet
and I rest

Your poem is lovely... Even though it's sad, with regards to growing old and not being able to carry on. :) well done
