Change: An EssayA Story by Alexis Dee WeissEssay for School Contest Prompt is ChangeThe way life goes sometimes you just want to pause and sometimes you just want to turn the page. You can’t press stop and you can’t fast forward. Life moves everyday. You are forced to get caught up in it. Every second there’s some kind of shift, some inkling of change. A look, a sound, a touch, can change everything. The way you feel, what you want, what you need changes as time passes. One second you feel happy, content, and the next you’re as low as you’ve ever been. Sometimes it feels like you don’t have control over any of the change in your life. Sometimes it feels like you don’t have control at all. But what we don’t realize is how much power we have over changing the lives of others and changing the world around us. Every time we smile or every time we hold a door. Every time we throw a plastic bottle into a recycling bin or pick up a piece of trash someone left on the floor. We’re making a change. We’re adding light. Many believe that one person can’t change the world. But what I know is that change is all about a chain reaction, it’s about one quarter donated that turns into thousands of quarters that turn into hundreds of dollars. All we need for change is inspiration. We need something to show us, to tell us it’s worth trying. Change is all about a decision. I know I’ve made my decision. I want to see this decision made across the world. Change is not only possible, it’s achievable. Make your decision. Make change. © 2011 Alexis Dee Weiss |
