All of Who I Am

All of Who I Am

A Poem by Alexis Dee Weiss

Them, the world, they try to fit me in some box, some single category or stereotype.
Okay, yeah maybe I am pretty silly, but I'm also pretty smart.
Yeah I cried today, cuz of what you said, and yes I'm sensitive, but I'm also pretty strong.
Yes, I'm shy but I'm also pretty bubbly once you break through my shell.
Yes sometimes my hair curls up and sometimes my makeup doesn't doesn't stay in place, but when I look my best I'm actually pretty cute.
We're all complex, beautiful and amazing, if someone just took the time to see.
We have our reasons for our faults, and reasons why we act.
We may cry. We may sing. We may be sad about everything
But that doesn't define all of what we are.

This is very good, Alexis. :-) It is very heartfelt and meaningful. The message in it is so true and powerful. Well done.
If you don't mind me suggesting, you should read this during writing club. I am sure everybody shall have reciprocating emotions toward it. It is just so beautiful.
The only thing I would change is Them to Then (the first word). Other than that, this piece is perfect and inspiring. :-)
