Alone

Alone

A Poem by Alexis

They said it's going to be alright,
In the end.
But she didn't believe
A word they said.

Everyone she talked to,
Was willing to let her vent.
But what a mess it would be,
If she told them
How she really felt.

She wanted
To desperately grab the blade,
Just so she could feel real
And have feelings for once.

But she didn't,
She didn't want
To hurt the ones around her.
So it made her feel worse.

Her feelings became such a blur,
That it became hard to think
And the urge to cut even worse.

Reality started to fade,
When she had to start to fake.
Her world was wall
Built to the heavens,
Just so no one could get to the real her.

There were monsters stuck inside her head,
They haunted her
And the only way she could get rid of them
Was to let them bleed out.

The monsters like to speak to her
When she least wants them around,
But no one else can tell
That the monsters are real.

With all her strength,
She held onto the life she had.
Only so others
Wouldn't follow in her path.

A powerful and sad poem. All of us must fight demons. Hard to ask for help. Few understand another person pain and internal struggle. I did like the ending. We must go forward. I like the old wisdom. "Can't get worst, we hope not anyway." Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love this. But I don't believe much in the title. Because it's more than just being alone. This is stripping someone away and showing how they really feel. What they are and live through. I feel something like "Stripped Bare" or even the opposite "Walled Up" would work as a better title, if you don't mind my saying
