Battle scars

Battle scars

A Poem by Alexis

The battle scars on her skin,
Had just finally faded away
When she drew new ones,
Down on her wrists.

They all thought her battle was over,
When in fact, it had just begun.

The tears came more often,
And sleep less frequently.
While feelings were a mystery
And days were a blur.

The demons in her head
Arose more often.
And the angel she once was
Hid deep in the shadows.

She had feared
of what her life is becoming.
But the truth
Is nothing to be afraid of.

The words around her,
Was as thick as
The blood of which
The drawing she drew.

But the strain,
Doug deep in her.
Making it worse
On every level imaginable.

The battle scars on her skin,
Reminded her
That the demons in her head,
We're real.

"But the truth is nothing to be afraid of," were my favorite lines. Great and packed full of meaning!

I loved it, its so relatable, its difficult and the battle is never over unortunately because though you get past it the e memories remain. My scars still haunt me.
