School at nightA Chapter by Lewys Tapscott-NottThis chapter introduces use to the characters, shows the life they live, and tears it all apart. The rain poured hard as Agathe walks home, her blond curly hair wet all over. It was right now, Agathe wished she was eighteen, at least then she could drive! Her friend, Carissa comes into view, with her orange Cagoule and wiley boots on shaking her head at Agathe, looking at her up and down. "Trust you Agathe, why do you always forget the most important thing you need"? Agathe rolls her eyes. They walk down the cobbled street to a brown house with an old fashioned chimney. Agathe gulps, this was it, time to face the old dragon which was her mother. "See you tomorrow Carissa." "Yes, see you then, try and remember your money!" A grey haired woman, with wrinkles on her forehead leaps into action. "Young lady, where have you been"?! Agathe flinches when her mother points her spatula at Agathe. Mother puts it down and rolls her eyes. "Jesus Christ, have I ever beaten you"? Agathe laughs. "No, but there's a first time for everything!" The mother puts her hand on her whist and shakes her head towards Agathe. "Your lucky you and those kids grow up in a generation where I could be punished for abuse, the number of times I want to give you a good whack." "What time is dad home?" Her mother looks at the clock. "Five minutes, so you better get your skates on." Agathe puts the cutlery and plates out from the cupboard, and switches on the TV, a detective drama was about to start. Agathe puts her feet up on the table. "Feet young lady." "Mum! I was rushing home in the rain!" "Not my problem, off!" With that Agathe takes her feet off the table. "Why are you teenagers these days so rebellious?" "Because we have something to rebel against." "Oh, and we haven't?" "Don't worry mum, I'm sure president Kennedy's death didn't effect you that much." "Less of your cheek." Then a man came through the door with suit and his top lip goatee. "How was work dad?" "Work was slow, but still good, answered phones today." Her father worked for a house sales company, it always shows good progress answering phones to people that are interested, but her father preferred to be out in the action. A freshly baked chicken and ale pie, was presented to the two of them. After her mother puts it down onto the table, she gestures to Agathe. 'Here we go!' "Archie, this young lady did not get home until Quarter-Past-Seven"! Her father looks up from his phone towards Agathe. "Was Carissa or Belen with you"? "Yes, they were dad." A deep sigh then escapes his lips, and looks back at his phone. "Then Bev, I see no problem! she is thirteen now after all". "Thanks dad." The rest of the meal was filled with tension silence between her parents. A few times her father would clear his throat or her mother would go. 'hmph' By the end of supper, Agathe decided to go to her room where she was away from the tense feeling crawling round in her stomach. 'what a feeling.' Agathe thought to herself, as she laid on her bed and listened to 6music recommends with Mary Anne Hobbs. She really never could quite put her finger on it, but their was something about Mary Anne that made her fall into a deep sleep. The morning came as quick as it departed that evening, Agathe overslept, (as usual) Agathe's eyes blurred as she heard the bellowing of her phone alarm. Agathe stretched and let out an almighty yawn. She then looks at her alarm clock. (Half-Past-Eight) 'Half-Past-Eight? Hold on, she was late for school!' Agathe quickly puts on her skull and cross bones top and some fashionably ripped jeans and rushed downstairs. There was a sticky note stuck to the door. 'No time to wait for you, I keep telling you to not go to bed so late! mum.' 'is their ever a time when that woman is not moaning her head off?' Agathe then picks up her keys with a Mario key chain and walks out the door, ready to take on the new day. Agathe meets up with her friend Carissa and Belen. The day went on normally, Carissa and Belen had a dig at each other, Agathe failed her practise maths exam. Ok, not brilliant, but it was normal! That evening they get their bags and everything to go home. "Oh, hold on! I just need the toilet". By the time Carissa had finished, the whole school was shut. Agathe had reassured mister Henderson they were fine, and he gave her the passcode to get out. "If I'm late for my football tournament, I'm blaming you!" Bolin warns. In that moment, the trio could hear creeping in the shadows. "What was that?" Carissa asked worryingly. "Mister Henderson?" Agathe calls out into the distance, her voice echoed. No answer, "Nothing's there, lets just go!" Just then! they heard the swoosh of wings from the exact direction this time, coming gracefully closer. "What is it?" A monster like creature with wings came into view. "Run!" Carissa said. "This is crazy, what is that thing?" Belen asks as they run. "I have no idea, a prank!" Agathe explains, running out of breath. It was obvious this unknown monster was out to kill. When they reached the door, Agathe quickly tabs in the passcode and shuts the door behind her. "That was weird." Was Carissa's last words. 'It all seemed so real.' Agatha thought as they walked home. © 2018 Lewys Tapscott-NottAuthor's Note
