Snow WhiteA Poem by Levin FerdinandIt is about a miscarriage of a child named Snow White.Tiny Perfection
The glass spots your name Purple to blue, count toes tucked under blanket Self laying in the apple's basket Lullaby won't be throttled over babe's lips she won't ever be held in Mr. Priest's hands Baby Snow of presto skin, lips, and hair And babe shuffled into a womb, not of human mother's Bail now on god's caring fingernails To be scraped under coffin's skin Where you shall see darkness And, unlike the fairytale, will be in its armpitt Overcome with stench-less death Romance and freedom was not given by a prince The step-mother did not give you the apple It was only darkness and dark matter The apple's bitten will always remain in stubborn throat May stars grace you with welcome And not as a helpless sacrifice But as a spirit, burdens sliding off you And into night's friendliness Unto her cloak where heaven should lie Into Sun's lap, laughing at simplicity To meet seven dwarfs, all different and shining And far into family's heart A perfection resting peacefully
